Parisa froze, her eyes locked on the woman who had just stepped out. The woman was dressed plainly and had a sharp, bitter demeanor. Parisa had no idea who she was.
She pushed the door open and walked inside.
"Parisa, is that really you... stop, just stop right there!"
The woman was Yvonne, her face ghostly pale, as if she'd seen a specter. She stumbled backward in fright.
Parisa was taken aback by her reaction. Why was she acting like this?
Confusion swirled within her as she fixed Yvonne with a piercing gaze, slowly making her way into the courtyard. Her voice was steady as she asked, "You know me? And who are you? Is this your house?"
Yvonne paused, her panicked eyes gradually coming into focus.
She scrutinized the cold, regal woman before her, who was just as breathtakingly beautiful as ever.
Yvonne recalled the first time she'd seen Parisa's photo on Preston's phone. A wild jealousy had taken root in her then.
Parisa, a woman Preston could only dream of, someone he could never have.
It was almost laughable. Back then, Preston had resorted to secretly snapping a photo of her.
Later, Yvonne had seduced Preston, using the opportunity to climb the social ladder. She'd thought she'd triumphed over this stunning woman from a noble family. Only later did Yvonne learn that Parisa and Preston were never truly married.
Preston was never a match for her; he was merely the son of a driver whom Faulkner, Parisa's father, had employed to shield her from enemies in this city.
Eventually, when Preston couldn't have her, his love turned to hatred. He was approached by Faulkner's rivals, the Bartels Pharmaceutical and Mrs. Holly Sheldon, to slowly poison Parisa.
Yvonne had been more than eager to help.
She encouraged Preston to seize Faulkner's estate and eliminate Parisa.
Her trembling voice barely rose above a whisper, but Parisa caught the first part.
Her eyes, cold and sharp, honed in on Yvonne as she stepped closer, "Surprised I’m alive? Seems like you not only know me but have some connection to me? Is this place yours?"
The icy visage loomed over her, and Yvonne was reminded of Parisa’s final words when they poisoned her: "You may take everything from the Tennyson family, but even in death, my daughter will grow up! I’ll haunt you, come back for you!"
Even at death's door, Parisa had looked at Yvonne as if she were nothing but a bug beneath her feet.
Overwhelmed by a mix of resentment, anger, and fear, Yvonne couldn’t bear it any longer. She screamed hysterically, "Why have you come back?! Your daughter Whitney, that little brat, already avenged you. The Valentine family is in shambles because of her. Are you here to take my life? Let me tell you, we live in a land of law now, so don't come any closer!"
Her frantic shouts were abruptly silenced as Parisa's hand clamped down on her. Parisa's face twisted in surprise as she demanded, "What did you say? My daughter—her name is Whitney?"
Florence and Whitney were two entirely different names!
