Clarissa merely glanced at Damien when he walked into the kitchen, not saying a word.

The kitchen was on the small side. It was already quite hard for her to move around in here, let alone Damien, who was taller and more built. Instantly, she felt oppressed.

“Which uncle?” Damien asked Neil.

“Huh?”

“Neil said an uncle told him about the past. So, he knows you’re his mother now?”

“Yeah. My Uncle Peter came to visit Connie on set.”

“The one you’re directing?”

Clarissa froze. She was a little angry, and a little disdainful.

“I’m not as scheming as you are, thank you very much. You’re the one behind what happened to Madelynn and Lucy, aren’t you? You killed my mother, and you now have two more lives in your hands,” she said blandly.

Suddenly, she was swept off her feet. She found herself seated on the kitchen counter, not even knowing how she had ended up there.

“What are you doing?” Clarissa looked at the floor. Damien’s sudden move had made her spill the egg whites.

“Lucy’s kid isn’t mine!” He leaned against the counter and looked right into her eyes. There was a hint of desperation in his voice.

Clarissa kept struggling. She was worried that the custard tarts would burn, which would make all of her efforts go to waste. But the more she struggled, the tighter Damien’s grip became.

He had one hand behind her head and the other around her waist. He pressed his forehead to hers, and she couldn’t move at all.

“You’ve been with me for so long, but you still don’t know what I’m like. You deserve to be kept on a tight leash!” Damien’s deep voice rang out next to her ear, his tone filled with arrogance.

Clarissa’s heart raced. She hated him, but she couldn’t break away.
