I turned to Timothy and Mrs. Hardwell once I finished examining the documents.

“Based on Mr. Hardwell’s medical records, his nerve damage doesn’t seem extensive. Hence, he should be able to undergo this therapy.

“That being said, I will need to take his records back to our expert team for further evaluation. I’ll update you with a definitive treatment plan once they complete their evaluation.”

Mrs. Hardwell was elated to hear there was a safer treatment option.

“Don’t thank me yet,” I replied.

I glanced at Timothy once more before excusing myself. I then left after telling them I had other matters to attend to.

The Hardwell family’s staff respectfully saw me out because I had suggested a safer alternative treatment method.

I didn’t look back once as I walked out of their residence. Because of this, I didn’t notice Timothy staring intensely at my back as I left.

Mrs. Hardwell felt uneasy as she watched him do so from beside him.

I was about to enter my car to leave Hardwell Manor when I spotted someone else being respectfully ushered out.

I was taken aback for a brief moment when I realized who it was.

Then, I approached the person and called, “Mr. Ashford.”

He seemed to only realize my presence after I had spoken.

Turning to me, he answered, “Yes, Ms. Quill?”

His refined eyebrows were raised slightly and tinged with mischief

“Thank you for assisting with the open sea search and the issue with that criminal organization. I truly appreciate your help. Please allow me to treat you to a meal as thanks when you have the time,” I offered.

I had been too overwhelmed with grief after the incident. Then, I had moved into the lab to take my mind off my sorrow. Hence, I hadn’t properly thanked Mr. Ashford for this help yet.

I thought a busy man like him probably didn’t have the time to entertain my invitation.

However, Mr. Ashford said, “I happen to have time now.”

His words surprised me momentarily, but I quickly recovered. I swiftly called my assistant and instructed her to make a restaurant reservation.

Mr. Ashford and I arrived at an exclusive restaurant in Lestoria 30 minutes later.

He habitually took out a cigarette after sitting down. Just as he was about to light it, he paused and looked at me.

“Do you mind if I smoke?” he asked.

I was about to say no, but then he put it away.
