“Babe,” Irwin called out as he snapped out of his daze. Then, he strode toward me.

As he passed Julianne, who had been standing fine just moments before, she suddenly collapsed.

Irvin’s expression changed instantly, and he rushed to catch her, completely forgetting about me in the process.

Out of his sight, Julianne shot me a provoking smile.

I smiled back. I wasn’t scared of her tricks because I was still counting on her to help me get a divorce.

When Julianne fell, Simone rushed over, tears already streaming down her face. “Lianne, what’s wrong? Is it because Emilia’s stealing your things?”

Leaning against Irvin, Julianne said weakly, “Simone, don’t say that. Whatever Millie wants, she can have. I don’t mind… It’s just that…”

With that, she cried.

The look of hurt and grievance on Julianne’s face, despite me having done nothing at all, made me instantly appear as the bad guy.

Cordelia couldn’t hold back and almost stepped forward to say something, but I grabbed her arm, stopping her. How else could I get this divorce done as soon as possible?

Irvin looked at me, frowning. “Emi, you know how much Lianne needs the new pieces from Thompson. Why are you still fighting her for them?”

After a moment, his voice softened slightly. “I understand you’re upset, but no matter how angry you are with me, don’t take it up on Lianne, okay?

“You know what today is, and how much Lianne needs Thompson’s design. It’s a promise she made to her mother before she passed. Please, don’t put me in a difficult position.”

Irvin seemed a bit frustrated. He believed that I must have known that today was Julianne’s biological mother’s birthday.

She was one of Thompson’s devoted fans, and she was obsessed with his work. Even on her deathbed, she made Julianne promise to get Thompson’s pieces for her every year.

Julianne needed this new piece, so that she could bring it to her mother’s tomb. However, I was fighting her for it on this particular day.

Meeting his reproachful gaze, I couldn’t help but smile.

Look at him. Just this morning, he was sending me sweet messages, reminiscing about our good old times. What was he doing now? He said he would never act that way again, but now look at what he was doing?

He assumed it was my fault without even asking me what happened.

They said men were born actors, and it was true. If it weren’t for his instinct to protect his love, I might have almost believed that he truly wanted to win me back.
