Chapter 62

Claudeville was a city located toward the north, so its winters tended to be chilling. Today, it was even snowing

I wore wool thermal clothing, stuck on several heat packs and even added a down vest in the middle. Then, I topped it all off with a long down coat that almost reached my ankles. Yet, I was still shivering,

I had always been sensitive to the cold. After getting severely injured, the cold affected me even more. But even as I trembled from the cold, I was in such a good mood that I felt like humming a joyful tune.

When I arrived at the courthouse and saw there was still plenty of time, I happily went into a nearby coffee shop. After I picked a seat by the floortoceiling window, I ordered a cup of coffee and a sandwich for breakfast. As I ate, I enjoyed the snowy view outside.

I feared the cold but had an inexplicable fondness for snowy days. Ending this horrible marriage and starting a new chapter in life on a snowy day, which I loved most, was a pretty good sign to me.

Just as I finished my breakfast, I saw Irvin’s car pull up in front of the courthouse.

He stepped out of the car. Compared to my bulky layers, he wore only a black trench coat. The tailored coat outlined his broad shoulders and slim waist. His tall figure and flawless face made him look like the male lead stepping out of a movie sceneespecially in the midst of the swirling snow.

His features were so striking that they made everything else in the world fade away, leaving only him in focus. Passersby couldn’t help but stop in their tracks, forgetting whatever they were doing, mesmerized by his presence. Irvin undeniably had the kind of charm that could ensnare people, making it impossible for his prey to escape.

I merely smiled at the thought of that. Without delay, I grabbed my phone, wrapped my scarf tighter, and stepped

out.

After a sleepless night, my already pale complexion made the dark circles under my eyes even more noticeable. I didn’t feel tired, but I definitely looked like someone who hadn’t slept well.

When Irvin saw me, his cold and gloomy gaze darkened further. If you regret this, I can still give you another chance.

He wouldn’t be like me, who gave him no chance at all. As long as I regretted my decision and said I wanted to go back to him, he would always give me a chance to do so.

I was stunned for a moment, not understanding why he thought I would regret this. Then, a sudden realization struck me.

So, I looked up at him and smiled. Don’t misunderstand, Mr. Sawyer. I was so happy I couldn’t sleep all night.Irvin had been waiting for me to admit that I didn’t want this. He’d been absolutely haughty a moment earlier. But upon hearing my reply, he fell into silent rage.

He seemed to struggle to suppress the urge to kill me. Emilia!

Stop shouting. Let’s just go inside,I urged as I tightened my downcoat around me.

The weather was unbearably cold that day.

Irvin’s expression soured even more as his anger mounted.

Just as I thought he might lose control and strangle me on the spot, he suddenly turned and strode toward the courthouse.

I let out a sigh of relief and quickly followed him inside. There were quite a few people here to get divorced, so we had to get a number and wait for our turn. On the other hand, the city hall across the street was almost empty.

Even with his icy demeanor and the unapproachable air he exuded, Irvin’s outstanding appearance still attracted the attention of the women in line. They couldn’t take their eyes off him.

When they realized he was here to get divorced and would soon be single, they were even more eager to finalize their own divorces.

A couple in the midst of an argument noticed the unusual atmosphere around them and turned to look in our direction.
