Chapter 87
When I heard Irvin’s words, I froze for a moment, stunned.
Then, an icy chill spread through my entire body.
Irvin knew.

He knew Julianne’s true nature. He knew she wasn’t the sweet, innocent woman she pretended to be. He knew she was manipulative and cruel.
And yet…
Even knowing all of that, he still coddled her and indulged her every whim.
Julianne wanted me dead, and he was willing to deliver me to her on a silver platter.
I had always thought that Irvin like the rest of my family–was blind to who Julianne really was. I thought he only loved her because he didn’t know the truth.
But now?
Now I realized he wasn’t blind at all. He knew exactly who she was.
Which left only two explanation–either he loved her so much that he didn’t care about her flaws, or…
Or this was never about love. Maybe he wanted me gone, and Julianne’s twisted plan was the perfect excuse. If she “accidentally “killed me, he’d become a widower without ever having to divorce me. No mess, no split assets.
The thought made my blood run cold.
Whether it was blind devotion or calculated indifference, the result was the same—he wanted me out of the picture.
With Irvin and Julianne working together, my chances of survival felt slim.
I thrashed harder, screaming at the top of my lungs, desperate to break free. But no matter how much I fought, he didn’t let go.
We were just steps away from the edge of the rooftop. My panic surged, and despair started to take hold.
Then, I heard it.
“Stop!”
A group of police officers burst onto the rooftop, their presence like a lifeline.
Relief flooded through me, and my legs gave out. I collapsed, completely drained.
When Irvin had started dragging me upstairs, I’d managed to secretly call 911. Desperate to save myself, I’d screamed about murder and given enough details for the dispatcher to take me seriously.
Irvin froze, his grip on my arm tightening momentarily before he looked at me, his face a mix of shock and confusion.
“You called the cops?”
Ignoring him, I gathered enough strength to shout, “Officers, please help me! My husband doesn’t want to divorce me and split the assets, so he’s trying to kill me!”
Tears streamed down my face as I clung to my fear. “Please save me! I’m so scared!”
It was over. Whatever slim chance there had been of a peaceful divorce between us had just gone up in flames.
If Irvin wanted me dead, I couldn’t let him get away with it. I couldn’t overpower him physically, but I could make sure he didn’t have the freedom to try again.

Irvin stared at me, stunned by my words. For a moment, he looked genuinely baffled, as if he couldn’t believe I’d said that.
“Emilia,” he said slowly, his voice measured. “You can’t joke about something like this.”
Dragging me to the rooftop and having the police show up while I screamed about murder? It was easy to see how they might believe me.
I let out a cold laugh, meeting his gaze with ice in my eyes. “Werent you trying to kill me? Didn’t you just tell me Julianne was so mad at me that she wanted something to happen to me? Didn’t you say I should stop struggling and let myself be dragged to the edge? What was that, Irvin?”
He froze, caught off guard by my bluntness. “That’s not what I meant. I just—”
