I politely declined. "I appreciate the offer, but it's not necessary. My family will take me there."

Noticing my wariness, the man chuckled. "Don't misunderstand, I'm not a bad person. I'm a doctor, and I came to your school today to give a lecture."

A group approached from a distance, and the principal hurried over. "Dr. Donovan, thank you for your help today."

He seemed surprised when he saw me, likely because Carter had donated a building in advance, and the principal treated me like he'd just seen a god of wealth.

I shook my head. "I almost fainted, and Dr. Donovan caught me."

He offered again, "I'm heading back to the hospital anyway. Let me take you for an examination."

When the principal heard this, he quickly added, "Zoey, you're not feeling well? You can't delay that! Don't let Dr. Donovan's age fool you, he's a highly accomplished, versatile doctor with many awards. He's not just an orthopedic specialist. You should go with him for a check-up. I'll call Mr. Bolton right away and have him meet you at the hospital."

The principal's anxiety made me almost feel like I had a terminal illness.

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Dr. Donovan." I masked the coldness in my eyes, wanting to see what he was up to.

"No problem, it's my duty."

I hesitated before asking, "Dr. Donovan, are you always this caring?"

I secretly sent a message to Damian, telling him not to alert anyone and to follow at a safe distance.
