But I’d always believed in relying on my own skills. Even when I was at Gildon Corporation with the status of the future wife of the boss, I never acted as just a decorative plece. 

After a week, I reviewed all the marketing client information, the company’s current resources, and the performance of every marketing employee over the past two years, especially the past six months. 

I reorganized the team and established a new incentive and punishment system. 

My purpose wasn’t to show off but to motivate everyone to work hard, and not to fall short of themselves or the company. Of course, it was also my way of giving back to the company for hiring me despite the pressure from Chris. 

Just as I was seeing the marketing department thrive, I received feedback from the marketing staff that all the clients we were working with had proposed to terminate their contracts. Even clients we were negotiating with were finding various excuses to delay. 

I knew this was Chris‘ doing. 

Since he couldn’t successfully pressure the company he resorted to the despicable tactic of poaching our clients to force the company to abandon me. 

Since this problem stemmed from me, I naturally reported it to Xander. He just smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it. If he can take our clients, it just means they weren’t meant to be ours. We’ll find new ones, 

I was surprised by Xander’s generosity. I showed him the reports, which revealed that 80% of our clients had been poached by Chris. 

“It’s okay. As long as he doesn’t take you away, I believe you will bring in new clients,” Xander expressed an extraordinary level of trust in me. 

Of course, I had confidence in that too, but I still felt his attitude was a bit unusual. 

“Mr. Roulder, aren’t you going to report this to the president?” I added, “I don’t mean anything by that, but if you don’t report about losing so many clients at once, it might make things difficult for you. You might get blamed.” 

Xander smiled, and his smile was a bit inscrutable. He then said, “Ms. Crown, I finally understand…” 

He paused for a moment, then continued, “I finally understand why Mr. Gildon from Gildon Corporation didn’t want you to switch jobs.” 

Was that so? 

I had the feeling he wasn’t saying what he really meant 

Xander added, “As for the concern you have, I have certainly reported it, and the higher–ups were aware of the interference from Gildon Corporation when you joined. These things are within our expectations, so you don’t need to worry too much. Everything is under our control.” 

So, it seemed I was worrying too much.
