Running into Yuna at a bar this late was the last thing I expected. 

Lately, I’d been so wrapped up in my own mess that I hadn’t been paying her enough attention. But that didn’t mean I’d stopped caring. Not even close. 

Yuna stood out in her mint–green dress–modest, elegant, and so out of place in the chaotic bar scene. 

I didn’t call out to her. Instead, I trailed behind, curious and a little uneasy. What was she doing here? 

She moved through the crowd with purpose, heading straight for the back. When she stopped in front of Tanya’s office, my stomach tightened. Tanya reached out to her? 

Every instinct screamed at me to be on alert. I crept closer and positioned myself outside the door. It wasn’t fully closed, leaving just enough of a gap to peek and listen. 

“Ms. Twain, I’m starting school next week, so I won’t be able to come here anymore. Could you settle my performance fees from the past few weeks?” 

Her words hit me like a brick. Yuna had been working here? For weeks? 

“KRA?” Tanya smiled like she was the most approachable person alive. 

Yuna nodded. “Yes, KRA.” 

“That’s a fantastic college! My husband graduated from there,” Tanya said, name- dropping Desmond. 

I nearly rolled my eyes. Did she not realize bringing up Desmond’s name, especially at this hour, might tempt his ghost to show up and drag her to hell? 

“Oh,” Yuna replied flatly, her tone making it clear she couldn’t care less. 

Tanya didn’t seem fazed, quickly switching gears. “What’s your major at KRA?” 

“Medicine,” Yuna replied. 

Tanya frowned. “A beautiful girl like you… why would you want to study medicine?” 

“I like it,” Yuna replied, giving nothing away. 

Tanya hesitated, clearly searching for the right words. “But don’t you think it’s kind of…” 

I could already guess where she was going. Gory? Gross? Like Tanya had any room to talk, considering the metaphorical blood on her hands from plotting Desmond’s death. Classic Tanya–putting on a sweet act. 

“I like it. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it,” Yuna said, cool and confident–a

Yuna gave a small smile. “That’s the plan.” 

“You haven’t thought about other careers?” Tanya pressed, steering the conversation exactly where she wanted it. “With how beautiful you are, you’d have so many more options.” 

Yuna didn’t reply right away, so Tanya pushed harder. “Your performances here these past weeks have been incredible. The customers love you. I could help you get into the showbiz. 

I stifled a laugh. Tanya’s pitch was so transparent it was embarrassing 

I knew exactly what she was trying to do. This wasn’t about helping Yuna; it was about 

but I hadn’t roping her into some scheme. My sources had flagged Tanya’s recent moves, expected her to target Yuna so blatantly. 

Still, I held back, curious to see how Yuna would handle it. And from the way she’d been batting away Tanya’s questions so far, I knew she wasn’t falling for it.
