Chapter 78 

When Brandon came out from the balcony, he saw me asleep at the computer. The dim yellow light cast a glow on my face, and his gaze lingered there. 

I could sense it but couldn’t wake up. 

After a while, I heard him calling me softly, “Mae…” 

Mae? 

Was he calling me? 

Yes, he was. 

Before I joined the Gildon family, I was called Mae, not Maddie. 

But it had been a long time since anyone called me that. 

“Bran, my name is Mae…” 

A vision appeared before my eyes: a little girl with two buns on her head and a baby face sweetly calling a boy. 

The boy was aloof and didn’t like to talk.

I woke up from the dream, breathing rapidly. 

This was so strange! I had a dream about Brandon and me when we were toddlers, probably only two years old.

Honestly, such an orderly person made me want to mess him up a bit. He wasn’t awake. I watched him silently from a few steps away, then moved to my computer, picked it up quietly, and tiptoed out. 

I can’t believe I slept here last night. Just thinking about it made me feel 

embarrassed. 

Luckily, I had taken my room key when I came out last night. 

When I sneaked back, Kara was still sound asleep. If she had been awake, she would be concocting all sorts of wild theories about this juicy piece of gossip. 

My phone showed it was 5.00 a.m. 

I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep again. So I opened my computer to continue working on the issues Brandon had found yesterday. 

But I discovered that Brandon had already checked and resolved all those issues. 

I stared blankly at the screen, then washed up and drank some water. I stood on the balcony to take in the scenery outside. 

Brandon’s figure appeared in my sight. Was he awake already? When I left earlier, he was still asleep. 

Did I wake him when I opened the door? Or had he been awake, pretending to sleep to spare me the awkwardness? 

I stood on the upper floor watching him below, and my thoughts wandered. I had to admit that Brandon was affecting me. His influence on me was growing stronger. 

“A man and a woman spend the night in the same house, but nothing happens. What do you think that means?”
