Chapter 967 

“Do I need to change my shoes?” A gentle female voice cane from the doorway. 

Lena thought she must be hearing things. She snapped her head up, and her eyes landed on a tall girl in casual attire standing by the entrance. Next to her was Aaron, dressed in a dark coat. 

They hadn’t looked into the house yet, as the entryway was positioned just out of sight from the main living area. However, from her spot on the sofa, Lena had a clear view of them. 

“No won’t be necessary. My parents don’t wear slippers at home,” Aaron explained patiently. 

Lena felt as if she were frozen in place, her mind going blank as she stared at the two of them. 

Hearing the commotion, Briana walked out from the kitchen, and she, too, stopped in her tracks. 

It was rare–unheard of, even–for Aaron to bring a girl home. The implications were obvious. 

“Sister,” Aaron greeted Briana first, then introduced the girl beside him. “This is my friend.” 

Briana nodded quickly, her surprise evident. “Hello!” 

The girl, slightly shy and uncertain, seemed hesitant to call Briana by name due to her age. She offered a polite smile instead. “Hello, my name is Xandra.” 

“Please come in, please come in,” Briana said, gesturing warmly before turning toward Lena. “Lena, your Uncle Aaron has brought his girlfriend home.” 

Lena finally snapped out of her daze just as Aaron led Xandra into the living room. 

Xandra clung to Aaron’s arm, her face showing the nervousness of meeting someone for the first time. 

Lena’s eyes met Aaron’s for a fleeting moment. His deep gaze was just as focused as before, but he quickly looked away and turned his attention to his parents. 

“Mom, Dad, this is Xandra. You can just call her Xandy,” Aaron said, introducing her. 

Their grandparents, who had been nagging him about marriage for years, were overjoyed. They immediately set aside the video they’d been watching and stood up excitedly 

“Come here, dear, have a seat!” Deborah beckoned warmly. 

The sofa was small, so Lena stood up without hesitation to make room. 

Aaron and Xandra sat down together, leaving Lena feeling like an unnecessary extra. She didn’t know whether to stay or leave. 

“Lena, bring some water for your Uncle Aaron and his guest,” Briana called out, giving Lena something to do and a moment to collect herself. 

Lena hurried to the kitchen, but every step felt heavy, as if weights were tied to her legs. 

As soon as she reached the kitchen, Briana pulled her aside. “Why did your Uncle Aaron suddenly bring a girl home?” 

Lena leaned stiffly against the counter, her gaze dropping. Her mind buzzed with white noise. How would she know? 

Not long ago, he had confessed his feelings to her. And now he’d brought someone else home?

“I’m not going. You go. I’ll help with the cooking,” Lena said firmly, moving to the sink and grabbing a tomato to rinse.
