Running through the hospital doors, I stopped right at the desk and began shouting that they take me to my mother's room. A nurse who was at the desk told me her room number and I ran into the elevator and began pressing the buttons impatiently. Bringing me up to the Emergency ward, I stepped off the elevator and ran right up to Melissa who was pacing the floor.
"What happened?" I practically shouted at her.
"She accidentally heard that you were kidnapped and she began sobbing. The next thing I know she was shaking vigorously and was foaming at the mouth." Sinking at the floor, I began sobbing while wondering why bad things have to happen to good people. What did we do wrong? Where did we go wrong for things like this to plague us." I didn't know how long I was there, but I tuned out everything and everyone, that was up until Mark came out.
Getting up, I rushed over to him and by the look on his face, I knew what happened before he even spoke.
"I am sorry to say, guys, we tried everything we could to say her. I'm sorry to say but she died." Holding my chest, I began to gasp for air as tears flowed out of my eyes. Feeling Adam's arm around me, I pushed him away but he came back. I tried to fight him but he wasn't moving, he just continued to hold me against him. Eventually, I gave up and began to cry uncontrollably on his chest.
When I finally calmed down, I ask Mark who was still in the room, if I could go to see her. Nodding his head, he exited the room to give me some privacy. Looking at her, she seemed like she was at peace like she was just sleeping. Holding on to her hand, I began to rub it gently before I ran my hand through her thin hair. I began crying again because I know she was gone for good, and she looking like she was sleeping was what I wanted but wasn't actually true.
I continued to stare at her for some time before Mark re-entered with persons who were going to carry her down to the hospital morgue. Kissing her on the forehead, I touched her face lovingly before I walked out. Walking up to Adam, I just wrapped my hand around him and buried my face in his chest. Rubbing my back soothingly, he leads me to the elevator and then to the car. Placing me in the back seat, he sat beside me while Melissa sat in the front passenger seat with James behind the wheel. The entire car ride was silent and I couldn't help but feel grateful. Dropping Melissa at her home, she promised she would call before James drove off.
Parking the car in the driveway of Adam's home a few minutes later, we got out and I hugged James before thanking him. Walking away without another word, I passed Sophie and Kyler in the living room without a word before making my way to Adam's room, where I climbed into bed and lay and cried before I fell asleep.

Two months had passed in a blur and so did the funeral that happened today. I didn't remember much of that day, all I knew was that I never stopped crying and that I had stuck by Adam's side all day. Now home, I stood at the window in Adam's bedroom, looking out while playing with the pearl necklace that he had gifted me with so I could wear it with my outfit for today.
