Chapter 1037
Adeena finished the full body checkup only after about five hours.
Since around four results would only be released after a few days, she would come and get all the results in one fell swoop after three days.
The sun went down in the evening, and the lights in the city were turned on.
The entrance of the hospital was crowded and bustling, as usual.
Adeena looked at the man beside her. “Mr. Winters, thank you for today.”
The CEO of Winters Corporation was very busy, yet he was able to take half a day off and accompany her for the physical examination. This caused her to warm up to him a little, despite the initial walls she kept around him.
If this man really was trying to pursue her, he had definitely put in enough effort to make a woman’s heart flutter.
But she was not an ordinary woman.
“It’s getting late, so I’ll go back first. See you again, Mr. Winters.”
“Is that all the thanks I get?” Duke softly said, “I’ve worked for a long time. I’m hungry now.”
Adeena was speechless.
When she was undergoing the examinations, he had been going up and down to queue up for registrations and payments. He was indeed more tired than her.
She smiled faintly and said, “What do you want to eat, Mr. Winters? I’ll treat you.”
“What do you want to eat?” Duke looked at her tenderly. “I know that there’s a pretty good Italian restaurant near the hospital. Do you want to try it?”
“Okay, let’s go.”
The restaurant was not far, so the two of them just walked over.
The sky slowly turned dark, and the stars shone in the dark sky.
When Adeena walked with Duke on the street, she experienced an unprecedented desire–she actually hoped that they could keep walking on the street.
She had just known and met this man a few times. Why would she have such a scary thought? “Be careful!”
A motorbike speedily drove past them, and Duke quickly held Adeena’s slim waist.
She was held in his strong arms.
Her face bumped into his chest, and she heard his pounding heartbeat.
She raised her head in a startled fashion, and Duke happened to lower his head at the same time. Their lips were less than one centimeter away.
Her heart almost leaped out of her throat.
Duke rubbed the back of her waist with his hand while slowly lowering his head.
Adeena forgot to move backward. She forgot to move out of his grasp and leave. She just watched this man leaning forward and kissing her on the lips.
His lips were very cold.
His breath was extremely hot.
She went weak at the knees very quickly, and she wrapped her arms around his neck by reflex. Beep!
A loud car honk was heard.
Adeena instantly snapped out of her daze.
She turned around in shock. It was only then that she realized they were on the street!
The streetlights shone brightly, and the street was crowded. Countless people were staring at them.
“You…”
Adeena’s voice was hoarse.
She took a step backward, but her legs had turned to jelly. The moment she moved backward, she nearly fell down.
Duke held her in time. “Addy, let’s be together.”
“No… no!”
Adeena’s mind was in a mess.
What remained of her rational thoughts told her that this man had a wife and four kids. She must not fall for him.
But she had just kissed him.
Why would she become something she hated the most–a mistress?
“Mr. Winters, I need some peace. Don’t follow me!”
Adeena looked at her. “Didn’t you go on a date today? Why do you look like this?”
“Haha!”
Ruth chuckled in resignation, and her voice was filled with mockery.
She casually tucked her hair. “I’m hungry. Let’s go out and eat. I want to drink some alcohol.”
Today was the dimmest day in her life.
She felt that her world was falling apart.
Only getting drunk could let her seek a moment of relief.
Adeena sighed.
Today had been the most chaotic day of her life.
She also wanted some alcohol to clear her mind.
When the two of them were about to head out, the door of the living room was knocked.
“I guess Brady is back.” Ruth walked over and opened the door, but a delivery guy walked in with a big box.
“Ms. Willis, this is the meal you ordered. Please receive it.”
Ruth took over the box. “Why didn’t you say you’ve ordered dinner?”
She opened the box, and she instantly widened her eyes. “Australian lobster, deep sea abalone, French foie gras. You actually ordered western food delivery. Wait, there are also steak, hot wings, and fish and chips. What the f*ck! There are all sorts of cuisines. Adeena, why did you order so much food?”
Adeena was slightly stunned.
She walked over and took out the order bill. Other than the menu, there was still one sentence.
[Adee, rest early after the meal. See you tomorrow.]
Adeena felt more conflicted.
Why was this man… so considerate to this extent?
She said she would treat him to a meal, but she ran away halfway.
This man had even gone out of his way to order a food delivery for her.
