Chapter 1274
‘In a daze, I returned to the Craig family’s mansion.
‘My mother and I were the reason why my father had worked so hard. After experiencing such a huge blow, his strength gave way.
‘He laid on the hospital bed and asked Duncan to take me in. Then, he closed his eyes and never woke up again.
‘At that time, my mother’s funeral procession had not even been held yet. Her coffin was still in the Craig family’s mansion. Everyone was crying, and it was heart- wrenching.
‘My illness showed its symptoms for the first time.
‘I acted like a wild, bloodthirsty beast. I could not recognize anyone.
‘Duncan was just a young adult at that time. While grieving his parents‘ deaths, he had to arrange their funeral and take care of his sick brother.
‘At the same time, he had to take over the chaotic Craig family, rebuild the family’s foundation, uproot his
powerful uncle, Rowan and expel him from the family.
‘Those years were the most difficult period for the Craig family.
‘Fortunately, I got the treatment I needed and recovered well.
‘With my talent and ingenuity, I was able to help Duncan get the family out of the difficult position. Soon, we managed to rebuild and make our family powerful again.
“This period of time was a taboo for the Craig family.‘
Even so, he told Ninian every single detail.
As time passed, Ninian sobbed loudly in the room.
‘While other children were being doted on by their parents, having a happy family, and creating beautiful childhood memories, Everett was experiencing such a tragic incident.‘
“It’s in the past now. Don’t cry.” Everett’s heart ached as he wiped her tears. He said gently, “God treated me well. He sent you into my life, and I’m very happy that He did.”
“It’s all my fault. If only I would’ve known earlier…” Ninian snorted and said, “If only I’d known you earlier, I would’ve saved you from the cabin, saved your mother, and reunited you with your family. You wouldn’t have felt so miserable.”
“Silly girl…” He hugged her and gently kissed her head. He sighed, “You already did. You’re my salvation.”
“W–What?” She raised her head with tears in her eyes and a red nose. She looked extremely cute.
Everett’s heart melted,
He said, “Don’t you remember? When you were a baby,
you lived abroad. You only came back to Cairnstan at the age of three or four.”
Ninian was stunned. She then nodded.
“We met at that time.” He seemed relaxed as he reminisced
“It was my first time escaping from the cabin. There was a remote orphanage nearby. You were so tiny back then. You gave me a cookie and told me to live a happy life no matter what.
“Ever since then, whenever I was on the verge of
breaking down, I would think of you and your big, radiant
eyes.
“Your light kept me moving forward for many, many years.”
‘When I returned to the Craig family, I tried everything I could to search for Ninian. I ended up finding out that she was the Winters family’s lost princess.
‘From that moment, I started keeping a close eye on her and watched her grow up.
‘She’s my moon, my savior.‘
When Ninian heard this, she was dumbfounded.
She looked at him with her eyes widened. She was not
sure how to react.
“So we’ve actually met that many years back…” She was still in shock, looking flustered.
Everett could not help but laugh out loud.
‘I didn’t plan to tell her this, but since she asked, I’ll tell
her.
‘Well, I guess it was worth it. I was able to see her cute reaction.‘
His gaze shifted to her red lips
Now that Ninian’s identity was exposed, many opportunities opened for her
Sometimes, it was more effective to ask for help from be
friends.
Lana readily responded, and Nerola did not refuse saying that she would try to ask around
Ninian lay in bed with peace of mind, scrolling finong: the news, waiting for Lana and Nerola’s messages
Unknowingly, she fell asleep.
She had a nightmare and immediately sat up.
“Everett!”
She noticed that she was in her familiar bedroom, and it was different from the bloody scene in her dream.
She soon realized that she had a nightmare.
Her heart beat rapidly when she recalled Everett laying in a pool of blood in her dream earlier.
It felt too realistic, as if this had truly happened in real life.
There was a knock at the door.
“Ninian, are you awake? Did you have a nightmare?”
“Lana?” She came back to her senses and opened the door.
Lana was not alone. Nerola was standing beside her. She
looked concerned.
George and Harold were standing at the back, leaning against the wall.
“Grapie, wash up.” George said, “There’s something we need to tell you.”
Ninian’s face turned pale. Her heart tensed up again, just like it did when she had her nightmare.
She asked in a quivering voice, “Did… something happen
to Everett?”
