Adina smiled faintly and said, “Dad, don‘t worry. Duke and I are very close. I asked him not to come.”

Dillon silently sighed.

He guessed that Addy made up such a white lie to make him feel at ease.

The ring had been properly placed in the cabinet previously, and she only put it on again after Duke returned.
