Maid Of Seduction novel Chapter 24

I slowly walked out to the balcony, taking in the fresh air. I looked out at the beautiful fresh cut lawn but then I spotted Anna speaking with someone.

My blood came to an instant boil and I was very confused as to why Anna was speaking with Shal Marshall.

Shal Marshall was one of the top lawyers in all of Florida. He was known as The Dull Dog.

I rushed out of my room and went downstairs and out the back where they were speaking.

Their eyes turned at me as I approached and Anna was rather surprised when she saw me.

"Antonio, what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I live here. The question is, what's he doing here?" I asked next.

"Miss. Wells, you'll be hearing back from me." Marshall said and extended his hand to Anna. She shook his hand with a smile on her face. 

He moved passed me and left my compound.

Smart.

"Why were you speaking with Shal Marshall?" I asked Anna as she tried to wheel herself away. I held onto the wheelchair so that she couldn't move.

"I needed him for something."

"For what Anna?"

She hesitated. "It's really none of your business Antonio."

"Are you going to go there with me right now? You had a top lawyer in my house and you're going to say that it's not any of my business?"

"I needed him to look into something Antonio!" She yelled and I noticed she was beginning to get angry.

"To look into what Anna?"

"I believe you already know!" 

Anna's POV

He was beginning to get on my last nerves. The way I felt about him was beginning to be pushed underneath the surface.

His father took everything away from me and I strongly believed Antonio knew about the schemes of his own father.

I attempted to break myself free from his hold on the wheelchair.

"Anna, if something is the matter, I need you to talk to me about it. You could trust me."

Can I really?

I looked him straight in the eyes. They were shimmering and staring right back at me.

"Anna, tell me what's going on." He lightly whispered.

"No. I can't. I just don't trust you anymore Antonio." My guard was still up.

"Fine then." He released his hold and I wheeled myself to my bedroom. 

The next day, I set out to get one more piece of evidence in Antonio's home office when he left for work.

I needed a statement of all the monies Peter had spent since I was left in his care so we, my lawyer and I, could have an approximate idea of how much to sue him for.

I was copying the documents on the computer when someone walked into the office.

"Elizabeth, can you reach me that folder on the top please?" I asked without even turning to her.

"Thanks." I said when the folder landed in front of me. I stuck the documents into the folder.

"You're awfully quiet today Elizabeth." I said. She still didn't speak.

It was then that I turned around and my breath and my heart paused.
