Chapter 9: A Flawless Victory

The auction hall was plunged into a deathly silence as everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on Selina, waiting for her response.

Natalia lowered her head slightly, tears glistening in her eyes, her tone soft and pleading. "Sister, I’m begging you on behalf of those poor children in the mountains. Please, let this go, okay?"

Selina chuckled coldly, her gaze as frosty as ice. She enunciated every word, her tone laced with disdain: "Donating my mother’s keepsake under your name so everyone can praise you? What a calculated move."

Natalia immediately shook her head, her eyes brimming with apparent grievance as her voice took on a slight tremor. "That’s not what I meant, Sister. It’s just... as the eldest daughter of the Clark Family, you’ve always lived a life of luxury. You probably can’t understand how hard life is for those children. I only wanted to do my small part to help them. The name may be mine, but I don’t care about such empty titles. Sister, why must you hold on to this so tightly?"

Katie clasped her hands over her mouth, tears streaming down her face, her voice trembling with a mix of sorrow and reproach. "Even if my daughter was wrong, it was for the sake of those poor children! Selina, don’t be so stubborn. Be reasonable, stop being selfish..." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Selina’s gaze turned icy, and her voice rose sharply: "Who said I didn’t want to donate the necklace?"

She stepped closer to Natalia, her tone as cutting as a blade. "Natalia, I’ve never met someone as shameless as you! Using my mother’s keepsake to earn your fame, then turning around and accusing me of selfishness?"

Turning to sweep her eyes over the audience, her voice became even firmer. "Since the necklace has already been donated, I won’t take it back. But the donor’s name must be my mother’s! Parading stolen items as your own for glory—sister, aren’t you being just a bit too greedy?"

Selina’s words rang out clearly, silencing the room once more. She turned to the host, her expression resolute. "As Victoria’s daughter, I hereby donate this ’Eternity of the Stars’ necklace worth 60 million in my mother’s name."

The host was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered and nodded vigorously. "Of course, Miss Clark. Please, come this way to sign the documents."

As Selina moved to sign, her gaze landed on the trio—James, Katie, and Natalia—her expression cold and unyielding. "Father may disregard my mother’s existence and give away her keepsakes to the daughter of a mistress. But I won’t! If no one else will seek justice for her, I will."

Natalia’s face alternated between pale and crimson, her fingers digging deep into her palms as she trembled with barely contained fury. Why? Why does Selina always have to target me like this? It’s just a dead woman’s necklace—was it worth ruining my reputation?

The expressions of the guests began to shift, their gazes toward the Clark family trio filled with disgust and disdain.

"After everything’s come to light, Natalia still has the audacity to act aggrieved. It’s revolting."

"The eldest Miss Clark never said she wouldn’t donate the necklace—she just asked to change the name to Victoria’s. Natalia’s hostility is beyond petty."

"Mr. Clark’s favoritism is absolutely outrageous. The eldest daughter has nothing, while that mother-daughter pair enjoy the spoils of the first wife’s estate. What a disgrace!"

James’s face was as white as a sheet, his body swaying as though he might collapse at any moment.

Just then, the host approached Selina with an air of deep respect. "Miss Clark, one moment, please."

Selina paused, lifting her gaze to him with a slight arch of her brow.

The host took a deep breath and announced in a loud, clear voice: "Our boss has decided that by exposing the truth and donating the ’Eternity of the Stars’, you, Miss Clark, are the true honoree. Therefore, this medal will be awarded to you."

It was the very medal originally intended for Natalia!

Selina’s gaze shifted to Natalia’s face, now twisted with a mix of rage and humiliation. Her lips curled into a faintly mocking smile. "Thank your boss for me."

The host nodded, then his expression turned steely as he issued a chilling order: "Our boss has also declared that these three individuals are no longer welcome here. Security, escort them out!"

The security guards showed no mercy as they grabbed James and his family, escorting them out of the auction hall without hesitation. Natalia was so furious she was on the verge of losing her mind.

She, the pride of the Clark Family, the beloved pearl everyone adored—when had she ever suffered such humiliation? For years, she had kept Selina beneath her feet, yet today, it was she who was being thrown out like trash. Why? Why does that wretched Selina get to stand there, watching me make a fool of myself?

...

After the auction concluded, Selina quietly exited through the back door. She lowered her head, pulling out her phone to call for a ride when a voice suddenly called out behind her.

"Selina!"

She turned to see Ryan striding toward her, his face clouded with irritation.
