Heather
Jeffery Callum Vincent, owner and CEO of Trace-Tech group, ranking #2 in U.S Tech survey and #14 in the International Roundtable Tech review magazine.
I mean this guy is in leagues with Hubspot, Procore, Facebook, even Google; and a bit of an overachiever.
At the age of 20 he sold his first pitch to Ledlin Tech, and at 24 he had already created his own company. Currently he's 30 and is rolling with some of the big names in the Tech market.
I know all these because S. Group have been dying to have him on the Decel Digitals project for the past 2yrs now, and all of a sudden, 3days ago I got a call that he went through our proposal and is willing to meet.
I'm sitting at the edge of my company's conference room table, wondering just how such a successful man could still be single at 30.
Don't get me wrong, the fact that he had agreed to meet after 2yrs is just marvelous and I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that, but I've only seen him in business magazines and I must say, pictures don't do justice to the real deal sitting right in front of me.
He's not a social bee and you would never see him in the gossip colon of any entertainment magazines. His private life is like top secret and such a mysterious attribute kinda messes with my mind sometimes.
Our business proposal fits his company well, and it went with a tempting offer we hoped he won't refuse.
Silently and boldly he sat on his chair, staring at the file and it's content like he was just seeing it for the first time. Only his entourage made comments and inquires on his behalf.
"Does something in the proposal strike you as unsafe Mr. Vincent?" I asked, not being able to hold myself with the way he looked at the documents suspiciously.
"It's not that, I'm just hoping to find the slightest clause or error in here so I can back out, but nothing. And call me Mr. Jeffery" He spoke finally as he closed the file and finally looked up at me.
I felt my heart skip a beat, but this was strictly business. So Heather, calm down.
"Good then, that means you can't back out even if you wanted to." I stated confidently, smirking playfully.
"Don't be too sure Ms Winfrey, I can do whatever I want at anytime," he warned.
Ok, he may be handsome, hot and mysterious, but his attitude is way off mean street.
Maybe I'm wired differently, but I can tell when I won't get along with someone and he is one of those times.
I get it. It's business and all so we have to be professional, but that's no reason to be a douche. You're allowed to smile every now and then at lest to ease off the tension in the room.
But he didn't want that, so I too got serious since that's what he wants.
"So does this mean you're in?" I asked, going straight to the point. He looked at me for few seconds, then at the file in front of him before nodding.
"My manager and secretary will discuss the rest of the details with you, I've got other business to attend to, if you'll excuse me," he replied rather rudely.
Haaa, no man has ever spoken to me in such tone before, let alone discharge me like we've just been wasting his precious time.
'Relax Heather, it's for the company, you are doing all these for the company'.
I signaled my secretary to see Mr Arrogant off while I went back to my office, but my manager stayed back in the conference room to discuss further with the people from.
Who does he think he is? No, seriously what an attitude. I know he has to have a tough persona as a businessman and all, but hello?
I'm a beautiful lady who may or may not be indirectly trying to form a more cordial atmosphere for business by being jovial towards him, and he shut me down? What other business does he have to attend to here in Shanghai, that he couldn't even spare 15mins for a little chat?
I'm exhausted, this will be the first and last time I'll be seeing him anyway, so no need to get all worked up. I just need to calm down.
From receiving calls to making some myself concerning my impeachment board meeting in 2 weeks time, I really need a break.
So, I pulled out my phone and booty texted Kevin; are you free? If you are, meet me at home in 20. He always knows how to keep me distracted and relaxed.
While I waited for his reply, my mind wondered about Livy, Markian and Daniel. It's been 2 days and I haven't heard from Livy since. To be honest, I just wanted to know what Daniel was up to and why the hell he went back to the Caribbeans?
Then the reply came in; I'll be there in 15, finished early today. And with that, I left the office and headed home to get my mind off everything for few hours.
Markian
It's been 2days since the party and for some reasons best known to me, I can't get myself to look at Livy especially after what Daniel had told me went down that night.
So the next day, I finally got a text from him in the afternoon telling me to meet him at the beach bar not far from the hotel.
When I walked in there I saw him sitting at the far end of the corner, so I walked straight up to him and he offered me a sit.
He had a cut on his left brow, his lips and on his left cheek and that made me pleased. I sat down and he ordered a beer for himself and a glass of whiskey for me.
"So why did you ask to see me today- unfailingly?" he asked going straight to the point.
That was good because I don't like to beat about the bush, so I replied,
"Heather told me you and your father are rooting for her impeachment so you can become CEO of S. Group. I don't know what lies or promises your father have filled your head with, but you need to stop here. Heather is your sister and you know her more than anyone else. She'll fight you back if you dare to touch what is hers." I warned not wanting to make it seem like that was my battle.
"You're right about the fact that she is my sister and I...well, I know her better than anyone else. But you're wrong when you say S. Group is hers because S.Group belongs to me, it always has and always will be. She was merely just sitting there temporarily as CEO, but its high time i take responsibility for my company now. So if she wants to fight me... I'll just like to see her try." He claimed calmly and boldly.
He has changed. His attitude and the way he speaks now is just full of spite.
"If your father have put you up to these then you need to stop. Heather loves you so much, and after everything she has done for you this is how you repay her? You know everything, you know how much she sacrificed for S.Group and just how much your father wants to get his hands on my Castlehill, so why are you aiding him tear our family farther apart?" i questioned.
"Markian, Markian, Markian. There you go again ranting on about my dad doing this and that, I'm honestly sick of hearing you say awful things about him. You think your father is better than mine don't you? You think it's just my dad that's trying to ruin our family, what about yours?" He questioned upset.
Why is he digressing from the topic here?
"What about my father?" I questioned back curious to hear what he has to say.
"Who do you think was responsible for my exile to the Caribbeans when it was time for me to become CEO, leaving it in the hands of dear my sister?" He asked while I stared at him puzzled.
What the hell is he talking about? Exile? No one sent him away, he left- ran away and left no trace, so Heather had to become CEO even though she didn't want it.
"It was your father Markian. Somehow, he managed to convince me and turned me against my own father by telling me that my father only wanted Castlehill- your position, and that he's planning to use me to get it. Back then I was scared and didn't want to hurt you most of all, so he suggested i leave if I don't want you to get hurt. Haven't you ever wondered how I got the funds to take care of myself back then? It's not like I had money stashed away to sustain me. But even back then you never cared enough to even pretend to look for me. It was as though you were waiting for me to leave all along so you could go right ahead and date Felicity, even though you knew very much how I felt about her..."
What?! Ok, I admit I dated Felicity when he disappeared, but how was I suppose to find him when he didn't leave any clue behind that he wanted to be found. And why on earth would my father do such a thing in the first place?
"...So, instead of always blaming my dad for everything wrong, try asking you father some questions." He added.
"So this is some kind of revenge for dating Felicity after you left? Or revenge that my father asked you to leave?" I questioned just to be sure where his anger was coming from.
He laughed at me hysterically like I just made a good joke, and even though he was laughing his eyes were not. They were filled with hatred. Why were they filled with so much indignation towards me? What could I have possibly done to make him hate me so much?
"No, it's none of that. It's just that from the time we were little, no matter what I did or where I went, people would always look at me like i'm a mistake, even you. My dad did what he did years ago, but whenever people looked at me they still see his mistakes, even you. I took you as my brother! but you never really did let me get close to you because you've always seen me as a traitor even though I hadn't done anything wrong yet. You always saw me as a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off, so I wasn't trustworthy enough to even stand by your side as an equal," he confessed.
Ok, everything he just said was true, and the way he's been acting lately only proves that my intuition had been right all along.
"So, you've decided to become what people have always suspected you would be? That's understandable, but why hurt your sister in the process?" I asked.
No matter how much he hates me, no one else should have to suffer.
