Charlie looked sad and confused as if it was unfair of Theresa to kick him out at that moment.

“You should go home,” Theresa insisted.

“It’s freezing outside, and I have to drive. It could be dangerous, I might get into an accident, but you don’t care about that. You only care that I’m bothering you,” Charlie said, looking at her with a hint of sadness.

Theresa was speechless. Rubbing her temples, she sighed, “If you don’t want to leave, you can stay. But don’t act like I am forcing you.”

“Then where will I sleep?” he asked, perking up at her compromise.

“The guest room is empty. Ask Brenda to prepare it for you,” she answered. “Well, no need. Just forget it. I’ll go home.” He took a deep breath, disappointed.

“Ben?” Theresa whispered. ‘He isn’t sleeping?’ When he didn’t respond, she asked again, “You’re still awake?”
