Chapter 1348

John?

Odell frowned and asked, “Why is he here?”

Shermaine replied, “He said he came to talk to you about a project in Glanchester.”

Odell closed the file and said to her, “Tell him to come in, and go make another pot of tea.”

“Understood.”

A few minutes later, the door was pushed open, and a young man in a suit walked in holding a two–year–old toddler.

The little girl was chubby and pink. As soon as she entered, she called out to him softly, “Hello, Uncle!”

Odell smiled at her. “Hello.”

John placed her on the ground.

Caprice immediately walked toward him with her little legs. She was not trying to hug Odell’s legs. She curiously walked behind him, made a big round, and then continued to explore the rest of the office.

John’s gaze followed her for a while. “Caprice, tell Daddy

if you want anything. Don’t try to get it yourself, or you might hurt yourself.”

The corners of Odell’s mouth twitched. Before John said the last sentence, he thought that John was trying to teach Caprice not to take things that were not hers.

Caprice gave an obedient hum and continued to stroll about.

John sat down on the sofa.

Odell looked at him. “Which project do you want to talk to me about?” They had cooperated on several projects in Glanchester which were making good progress.

John replied, “Nothing specific. I just came to tell you that the projects are going well.”

Odell gave him a cold look. This guy was obviously just here to loiter.

Just then, there was another knock on the door.

Odell said, “Enter.”

Shermaine walked in with tea. She first handed a cup to John and put another cup on Odell’s table, then turned around and walked out.

“That’s not what I meant. I’m just voicing my speculations as a bystander, and I shouldn’t be the only one to think so. When I came up, I met two of your

employees who were probably executives of your company. They were talking about your relationship with your secretary, and they also lamented that you would have continued to torture them if your secretary hadn’t helped them out.”

Finishing with a smile, he picked up the teacup and took a sip, then complimented, “This tea is brewed really well.”

Odell gave him a cold look. “Save the theatrics and just tell me straight. Do you think I’m interested in her?”

John smiled. “Yes.”

“Did you see anything? Besides the gossip you heard when you came up, did you hear anything else?”

“I didn’t see or hear anything. I just sense it.”

“Why?”

“Because whether it’s the way she looks or the way she dresses, it’s very similar to Sylvia. I don’t know if she was born like this or if she’s deliberately imitating Sylvia.”

“She’s not that kind of person.”

John laughed. “Master Carter, I haven’t said anything yet. Why are you in such a rush to defend her?”
