Chapter 1440
The driver quickly stopped the car.
John carried Caprice out of the car and went straight into
the hotel.
The hotel manager saw him coming and quickly
welcomed him, saying carefully, “Master Stockton, Ms. Fowler still hasn’t come back today.”
John gave him a small smile. “Please take me to her
room.”
The hotel manager instantly showed a troubled
expression. “That’s… Our hotel has a rule that no one is
allowed to enter a guest’s room when the guest is not present.”
John’s eyes darkened. His face which still carried a modest smile was gloomy.
The hotel manager’s expression changed, and he quickly changed his tune, saying, “Everyone except for you, Master Stockton. I’ll take you there immediately.”
John smiled. “Sorry for the trouble.”
“It’s no trouble at all.” The hotel manager raised his
hand to wipe the cold sweat on his forehead and quickly led John inside.
The elevator went up to the eighth floor.
The hotel manager took the key card and opened the
room door.
It was a single room with a large bed. The room had been cleaned, so it was neat and tidy.
After a general sweep, John walked in with Caprice in his
arms.
The closet beside the entrance still held her clothes and
shoes. Most of the clothes were formal attire such as
shirts and pants while the rest were warm clothes. Her luggage was also placed inside.
Her things were obviously still there, but where was she?
It had been three days. Why had she not returned?
Did she still not dare to come back because she was afraid that he would trap her here? Or was it because she could
not bear to show her face after how wretched she looked when she ran away that night?

Two blocks away from that hotel was a five–star hotel.
The door and the windows were closed, and the warm air
was quiet.
There was only the sound of Sherry typing on the
keyboard. She was sitting in front of her desk, working. She brought forward all the matters that she had to accomplish in the next month.
Only by busying herself would she stop thinking about Caprice and the cold and contemptuous faces of that man and those people.
Knock knock.
A knock sounded abruptly at the door.
“Come in.” Sherry faced the computer screen and
continued to work.
A tall figure came behind her and cast a shadow over her.
Sherry turned around to look.
Wearing sunglasses and a pink shirt, Carl bent over with his arms folded on the back of the chair behind her.
