Chapter 1678

Back in the restaurant, even if Sherry was an idiot, she could tell it was actually ‘dinner’ instead of lunch. She had no idea what had gotten into Carl’s mind for arranging a

candlelight lunch in the middle of the day.

However, she agreed to have a meal with him, so she tended to keep the promise. She reluctantly walked in and sat down.

Carl sat opposite her across the long table.

The waiter served the food and left them alone, leaving only a violinist playing inside. The music was pleasant to the ears.

Just when Sherry wanted to eat, Carl stopped her. He raised his glass of red wine and smiled bewitchingly with his charming eyes curved. “Sis, a toast.”

Sherry grabbed her glass and said, “Carl, congratulations on closing two major deals. Cheers.” She then finished the glass of wine in a single gulp.

Carl pursed his lips helplessly and took a small sip of wine.

Sherry then moved her attention to the steak before her. She was too lazy to cut it with a knife, so she forked the whole piece and started chewing it.

Carl was stunned. He simply responded with a helpless and bitter smile.

After a while, he narrowed his eyes and smiled bewitchingly. “How’s the food, Sis?”

Sherry said without looking at him, “It’s quite okay.”

“Do you want one more?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she said with a nod. It was delicious, but the portion was a little small for her appetite. She could easily devour another plate.

Carl pursed his lips and told the waiter to bring another serving of steak for her.

“Mommy…”

Sherry turned around.

She saw the man carrying the girl, standing in the corridor of the entrance.

It was Caprice and she looked like she had just woken up. The girl looked sleepy as she stared at her mother with her googly eyes.

Sherry strode over to the girl, but before she could get close, she sensed a pair of eyes watching her. The gentle gaze somewhat felt enchanting, but Sherry did not want to approach the man.

She frowned at him.

John smiled. “Caprice just woke up and wanted to see you, so I brought her here to wait for you.”
