Chapter 1776
“Daddy, what happened to you?” Caprice asked frightfully while slowly tearing up.
It hurt Sherry to see her like this.
John raised his hand and gently stroked Caprice’s head, “Daddy will be fine.”
Caprice whimpered, “Daddy, your voice is hoarse.”
“It’s what happens when you get sick, Daddy will be fine after a few days of rest.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Caprice pursed her lips and tried to crawl onto the bed. She had trouble climbing up due to her height. All she could manage was to awkwardly prop one of her feet onto the bed, but she did not have the strength to pull her weight onto the bed.
She groaned and tried to muster her strength to fling herself onto the bed.
Sherry chuckled and stepped forward to help her onto the bed.
After Caprice managed to get onto the bed, she crawled over to John and hugged him tightly. She began to blow large puffs of air on his face. She must have learned this from one of those cartoons she liked to watch.
“If I keep doing this, you will feel better.”
She continued the bizarre technique for a while until her lips were beginning to become parched.
John chuckled and patted her head gently, “Thank you, Caprice. Daddy is feeling much better.”
Caprice was very pleased to hear this, “You’re welcome, Daddy.”
She seemed very proud of her effort.
The injury John had sustained was centered in the area near his heart. With Caprice lying directly on top of his chest, Sherry was worried that it was going to aggravate his condition. With that in mind, she carried Caprice off the bed.
She grew curious and asked, “Caprice, Mommy and Daddy haven’t been at home these two days. Have you been a good girl at home?”
Caprice rested quietly in her arms without protest. She smiled brightly and expressed proudly, “I’ve been a good girl!” She missed her parents very much, but she was very strong and did not cry once.
Sherry kissed Caprice on the cheeks.
Caprice snickered happily and gave Sherry a big smooch on the cheeks as well.
Sherry carried her over to the couch.
She turned up to look at Sherry, her eyes filled with tears.
Sherry was startled by this. When she met Caprice’s eyes, she was stricken with guilt.
He hurried to Caprice and helped her up from the ground.
Caprice grumbled.
Sherry became very worried and asked, “Are you hurt?”
“I’m okay.” She seemed like she was upset about something else.
Sherry realized that it must have been the passing remark she made about John just now. She quickly tried to remedy the situation, “Caprice, Mommy was just joking around with Daddy.”
Caprice shot a look at her and said crossly, “It’s not funny. Don’t do that again Mommy.”
She did not ever want to lose her father or her mother. She wanted both Mommy and Daddy to be around forever!
Sherry was slightly caught off guard by the hard tone of her voice. Caprice was always soft-spoken and easygoing, so this was the first she had ever seen Caprice speak in a sharp, cutting tone.
The entire time, Caprice was staring at her intently with her large, marbly eyes.
