Chapter 1779

Queenie smiled warmly, then she turned to Sherry.

Sherry recognized Queenie at last and was astounded. “When did you get here?”

Queenie beamed with joy. “Just this morning. I came here with my mother and Peter.”

“Is Madam Stockton here too?”

“Yeah, my mom is inside.”

As soon as she said that, Madam Stockton stepped out of the room and revealed herself.

She was dressed rather plainly, her hair tied back in a common ponytail. She looked thinner and frailer than when Sherry last saw her.

Her lips quivered. It looked like she wanted to say something to Sherry but did not know how to start or where to start.

Sherry seemed visibly affected to see Madam Stockton here.

When John was still in the intensive care unit, Peter had trouble reaching him at all, so he ended up contacting Jason. It was Sherry who then took the phone and told him about John taking a knife for her to protect her.

Madam Stockton must have found out about everything that happened from Peter. Sherry was worried that Madam Stockton still harbored resentment towards her. Even if she knew that what happened in the past was all an evil ploy of Julie’s, she already had a poor impression of Sherry due to past events.

With this in mind, Sherry put Caprice down and handed the takeout container to her before urging her to go in, “Caprice, why don’t you go inside with Aunt Queenie and give the food to Daddy?”

Caprice nodded obediently.

Sherry darted a glance at Queenie who nodded and took the hint. She took Caprice by her hand and lead

her into the ward.

Sherry looked at Madam Stockton and gestured politely. “Madam Stockton, let’s have a chat over here.”

Madam Stockton remained silent the entire time.

AS Sherry stepped to the corner, Madam Stockton followed after her.

Sherry approached some chairs and gestured. “Please, have a seat.”

Madam Stockton tucked her lips and told her with a tint of reservation in her voice, “Alright, sit with me, please.” With that, she sat down. She was a bundle of nerves.

Sherry pursed her lips and tried to say something, but found herself at a loss for what to say.

It was around this point when Madam Stockton suddenly took out an intricate little red box from her purse. She opened the box.

It contained an exquisite emerald bracelet with excellent craftsmanship. It looked like it had been well preserved for many decades.

“Sherry, I want you to take this,” she said as she handed the bracelet over.

Sherry was very appreciative but kindly refused, “Madam Stockton, I know that you mean well but I simply can’t take it. It’s too expensive.”

Madam Stockton explained with a smile, “This is a family heirloom passed down through generations. John’s grandmother gave it to me a long time ago, and I think it’s time for me to pass it on to you.”

It was an heirloom passed down to the daughter-in-law.

Sherry was appalled by this. Still, she stood her ground. “I think you should keep it for now.”

It was all too sudden.

Madam Stockton seemed crushed to hear this. “You… you still can’t forgive John, can you? Is it impossible for you to make up with him?”
