Chapter 1806
To Sherry’s surprise, Queenie and Madam Stockton came to the airport to pick them up.
After leaving the airport, the group of Sherry, John, and Caprice headed back to the Stockton villa.
The surroundings of the villa were the same as they had remembered it. However, they noticed that there were new flowers in the garden and some new decorative details on the exterior.
Some of the flowers were in full bloom while others were still mere seedlings. As a result, it added a different splash of youthful flavor to the ancient villa that seemed to be a relic of a long gone past.
Upon stepping through the courtyard, Caprice leaped out of Madam Stockton’s arms and strolled into the garden. She jabbed at a colorful bell hanging on one of the branches.
Queenie approached her. “Caprice, I made these myself and hung them around the garden. Aren’t they beautiful?”
Caprice nodded, mesmerized by the trinket. She quickly asked, “Aunty, can I take it and play with it?” “Sure-” She had barely finished her sentence when Caprice plucked the bell off.
She did not forget her manners. “Thank you, Aunt Queenie.”
Queenie chuckled softly. “You’re welcome.”
Sherry jerked her lips to one side and began scanning the house.
Queenie mentioned that she was the one who decorated the garden. Sherry noticed that the walls were painted with bright murals, then she saw strips of tiny bulbs lining the corridor. Was Queenie behind all of this?
It was then that Madam Stockton asked her, “Sherry, what do you think of the new look?”
Sherry answered quite frankly, “I think it’s quite interesting.”
Madam Stockton smiled and stated, “It was Queenie who touched up the place. I don’t know where she learned all this, but she insisted that this was how it should be done. If you don’t like how it looks, I will send an interior designer over tomorrow and you can tell them what changes you’d like to make.”
Sherry refused kindly, “I think it looks nice as it is. There’s no need to make changes.”
Special attention was taken to cleaning every nook and cranny of the house. The moment she stepped inside, the warm smell of home came up to greet her.
She looked around and let out a sigh of relief. She felt a hand placed on the top of her head, ruffling her hair
John spoke in a voice that sounded heavy with bass, “Sit down and get some rest.”
Sherry was feeling rather tired from the long trip here. She turned and glanced in the direction of the garden.
Caprice was playing in the garden, inspecting the murals on the wall while Aunt Wanda was keeping an eye on her.
Sherry smiled softly and went to lie down on a nearby couch. She reached for her phone to send a text to Sylvia. She had been very busy with everything going on and had not managed to find time to contact Sylvia.
She figured she should tell Sylvia that she was back in Glanchester.
John sat down next to her and was on his phone as well.
