Chapter 1948

What???

Had he been awake since the moment she came into the office?

He was awake when she was feeling up his collarbone and his abs all along?

Flabbergasted, her cheeks reddened in a mix of embarrassment and humiliation. She frowned disapprovingly and shrieked his full name, "Liam Carter!!"

Liam squinted playfully. "Hm?”

Caprice made a show of grunting and pouting, expressing her disapproval. She was still slightly irked.

Liam ruffled her hair and asked with a faint smile, "Do you still want to touch me?"

His shirt was still open, his body in full view.

Caprice's eyes blazed at the prospect, and her anger dissipated instantly.

"Can I?" she asked uncertainly.

Liam broke into a chuckle. "Sure."

She obliged and began to feel his toned muscles.

After the two messed around for a while longer, Caprice’s stomach began growling. She cringed and immediately put a hand to her stomach to silence the hunger.

Liam grinned. ''Hungry?”

She muttered shyly, "Yeah."

She had not had a single bite of food since leaving Glanchester, and it was already afternoon.

"Take a seat on the couch over there.” Liam gestured. Then, he went to the desk and picked up the landline phone on the table to make a call.

Caprice could hear him speaking to someone on the phone. "Get us lunch.’

After that, he opened his desk drawer and extracted a pack of bread from it. He would usually snack on some bread while he was busy with work just to fill his stomach. He was not sure if Caprice would be a fan of the bread since it was not as flavorful as her usual choice of food.

He handed the bread to her and poured her a glass of water on the side. " Eat this to fill your stomach for now. Lunch will be here for a second."

It was evening by the time she woke up.

The afterglow of the setting sun refracted through the French windows and engulfed the bedroom, furnishing the office with a gentle ambiance.

She touched the soft mattress underneath her and surveyed her unfamiliar surroundings. Before she could figure out where she was, she heard a voice coming from outside the bedroom.

"Are you not going to the dinner party this weekend?" It was Isabel's voice.

"No," Liam said firmly.

"If you're not going, then I’m not going too," Isabel stated.

Liam remarked indifferently, "Do what you want. Good luck persuading Dad though."

Isabel expressed irritably, "Stupid Flinty is not going, you're not going, so why should I go by myself?"

Liam said, "Mom and Dad will be there."

Isabel groaned, "I don't get along with them. You know that.
