Brielle needed a break from her daily grind, and after some time off, she felt a lot more at ease. Her last stop was at DreamTech Designs, where she bumped into Patrick.

Patrick, as dedicated as ever since their days in Beaconsfield, seemed even quieter now.

Max's departure had left a mark on many.

"Ms. Brielle."

Patrick greeted her respectfully, as always.

"Just dropping by, didn’t mean to interrupt."

He nodded and turned to get back to work, but Brielle stopped him.

"That number Max left behind, do you know anything about his underground connections?"

Patrick nodded first, then hesitated.

"As the CEO’s assistant, I’ve handled loads of paperwork over the years. Sometimes, I didn’t even realize some documents were for DreamTech Designs. So, regarding his secret dealings, I only had a vague idea that he was a force to be reckoned with. He never seemed to worry about the Dorsey family, but I’m not exactly in the know about the details."

"Patrick, did Max ever just disappear suddenly and then show up after a while?"

"Ms. Brielle, that was pretty standard for him. As his assistant, it was my job to manage Dorsey International and DreamTech Designs when he was gone. Where he went wasn’t my business."

Brielle felt more confident in her hunch, her eyes lighting up.

"I remember, back when he was with the Dorsey family, didn’t he used to see a psychologist and a psychiatrist as a kid?"

"Yes, Ms. Martha always hoped he could feel emotions like any other child. So, when she noticed something was off, she consulted numerous professionals for him. Back then, almost every notable doctor in Beaconsfield visited the Dorsey family. However, his grandfather put a stop to it once he realized that despite his silence, Max had an extraordinary talent for business."

"Got it, thanks."

Brielle was even more excited, her eyes shining with determination.

Seeing her newfound energy, Patrick felt a bit relieved.

"Ms. Brielle, we should all look ahead."

But as he said this, his voice cracked a bit, and he quickly turned away, "I should get back to work."

Brielle wasn’t sure what to say. Max had that kind of impact; his presence made people care and admire him quickly. With him gone, it felt like a light had been snuffed out.

After leaving, Brielle found herself staring blankly at the sky for a while.
