Max placed the spoon in front of her, giving her lips a gentle tap.

She was daydreaming.

Snapping back to reality, Brielle opened her mouth and took another bite of the silky tofu pudding he had made for her. Back in her school days, she had a soft spot for this kind of comfort food. To Brielle, the purest days were those spent in academia.

Max grabbed a napkin and tenderly wiped the corners of her mouth.

“Did you ever feel lonely when you were an exchange student abroad, representing Beaconsfield College?” he asked softly.

Brielle was puzzled by Max's sudden interest in her exchange year. She pondered for a moment before replying with a casual tone.

“Honestly, it wasn’t much different from home. Just routine meals, studying various subjects.”

“No friends?”

“None.”

Max continued feeding her the tofu pudding, finding her straightforward answers quite endearing.
