Mated To Big Brother-in-law Chapter 260
Chapter 260
Sophia's eyes widened as she took a step backward. She could not just believe Victor. Bryan could
not do that. She hated him, but that did not mean she did not know him.
In truth, she knew him quite well. He ran after power, but he could not kill someone's mate. He
craved power, but he was not the person in her eyes who could descend to such depths as to roam
the world and kill the other alphas' mates in order to obtain their packs.
"Y-You are lying," she mumbled.
She could see the fierce face of Victor, who was glaring at her as if he would rip her head
anytime.
However, she was unfazed by his gaze and said,
"He can't do that. He–"
Victor came toward her and grabbed her arms.
"So you mean I am lying to you about my dead mate? Do you even know what else he did to her?
When you learn about it, your soul will tremble. So it's better if you keep yourself away from our
past."
"W-Why did he do that?" she asked, feeling broken inside.
The more he learned about Bryan, the more he shattered her heart.
How could he turn out like this? He used to think of him as a really good Alpha. Though she used
to think he was arrogant, not this ruthless.
She considered the act of breaking her heart as cruel, but what Bryan had done to Victor was even
more brutal.
She could see the pain inside his eyes.
Victor let go of her arms and ran his fingers through his hair. "I can't believe that man has shaken
you again. I thought you were strong and would not come into his words again."
Sophia shifted her gaze away from him as she felt her cheeks wet. She touched her cheek and
realized that she was crying.
She could not understand whether she was crying after learning of Bryan's horrible crime or
whether she was feeling terrible for Victor.
"I will never forgive him. My only desire is to destroy him," Victor muttered in fury.
Sophia looked at him. While wiping her tears, she said,
"So you were not mateless, but he killed your mate."
He turned to her. His eyes turned back to black as he controlled his rage.
"I am sorry if I was rude to you. I did not want to lose my temper."
She nodded her head as she looked away from him. "S-So you really want to marry me because I
am his mate?"
"No."
She gazed at him when she heard his reply. "Then why?"
He took her hand on his and replied with a soft tone.
"When I met you the first day, you were close to my pack's border. I saw you and felt attracted to
you. You are different from others. Not like the women who can do anything to end up in my bed.
I really like you, Sophia. I can't claim that I love you because I can't lie like Bryan Morrison."
She frowned at him. "How do you know he said that to me?"
"Otherwise, why would you talk about not marrying me?"
She lowered her head and mumbled,
"I know nothing about you. Sometimes, I felt days running really fast without knowing you."
While grabbing her hand, he pulled her along with him. "What do you want to know about me?"
"Everything," Sophia replied while looking at him.
He took a deep breath and walked with Sophia ahead.
"I was an unwanted child from childhood. My father never loved me when I was a kid. My
mother was sick, but he always ignored her, and when my mom died, he came home with another
woman and a child. He cheated on my mother, and their daughter was the proof. My grandfather
rejected the woman because he harbored a persistent suspicion that my father had murdered my
mother. My grandfather really loved me a lot. So he refused to accept another Luna for my father
as he decided to give the throne to me and not any other heir of my father. But when he tested
Mila's DNA and found the result, he had to declare her mother as the Luna of our pack.”
Sophia paused, prompting Victor to also halt. He turned to her and asked,
"Do you want to know more?"
She felt really bad for Victor. She sensed that Victor's childhood had left him broken. How could
his father do that to his mother and him?
"When did Bryan kill your mate, and why?"
Victor's eyes darkened as he said, "Five years ago. Let's not talk about it. I don't want to
remember that again."
"I know it's painful for you. But why did he do that?"
"He wanted me to lose all my strength because he feared I would grow stronger than him. So he
killed my mate to weaken my wolf."
Sophia did not know how to react. But no matter how cold she had become, she could not lose the
part of her heart that was still soft. She felt sad for Victor.
She held his hand and whispered, "I'm sorry for what happened to you. Even though everyone
treated you badly, you still managed to maintain your composure in their presence. Your dad and
Bryan will both get their karma. I believe they will."
She felt the hatred in her heart that had piled up for Bryan increase so much that it filled all the
space. Now, there was no way she would feel even a little bad if he got hurt.
"Do you know why he wants to stop this wedding? It's because he knows if we actually pair up,
we can destroy him. He is afraid of my actions. He can show his anger in front of me, but he can't
kill me. If he kills me, it will cause problems for his throne, as he has already killed my mate and
has been banished from my pack.”
The wind touched her body, giving her shivers. But she did not feel anything inside. It was as if
she had lost all of the feelings that were left inside for Bryan.
"I want to marry you because I like you. Don't you want to marry me?" he asked, looking at her.
She gulped as the question now felt heavier in her heart. However, it was not as tough for her as
before. She looked into his eyes and nodded at him.
"I will marry you. That man should be punished. He killed your mate and then wanted to cage his
own mate as a mistress. He is a cruel man who deserves to die."
