Mated To Big Brother-in-law Chapter 35
Chapter 35
My eyes were closed. My wolf and I both felt instantly at ease when we smelled the scent. There
was a warmth in the embrace. It almost made me forget the world around me. All I wanted was to
be wrapped in this strong arm for a long time.
"Can't you see while walking?" I heard a chilly voice that trembled my body.
My eyes flung open, and my gaze met a pair of dark eyes. I did not know why, but my body felt
numb.
My wolf shouted inside me.
"Mine"
But I knew he was not mine. He would never be mine.
His handsome face was so magnetic that it could pull any woman toward him. His cold aura
would never let others rule over him. With his striking appearance and his aloof demeanor, he
ruled over the hearts of women.
"If you are done staring, let's go to the meeting room. I'm getting late, and I don't have any interest
in holding you the whole day."
I put pressure on his shoulders and stood straight. I lowered my head and said,
"T-Thank you, A-Alpha."
Bryan ignored my gratitude and walked past me. I looked at his back while following him. His
words hurt me, which caused me to feel upset.
His every word began to make an impact on my mind more and more. I did not know what would
happen to me in the future if it kept happening.
I believed I did not like him, but the mate bond brought in this new phenomenon inside me
unnecessarily.
'I should talk to him about the mate bond. We have to do something about it.' I thought.
As we entered the meeting room, everyone who was sitting on chairs stood up and bowed to
Bryan.
There was enough space in the meeting room to set up a large table, which had thirty seats, along
with two head chairs. Alpha's seat was positioned across from a large projector, which was set up
to provide him with a clear vision for every presentation.
Bryan motioned his hand to tell them to raise. When he sat on the head chair, everyone sat back in
their seats.
I stood beside Bryan while lowering my head. I could feel others' gazes on me.
"Start the meeting," Bryan said while looking at everyone.
The meeting proceeded long, almost more than one hour.
I was glancing at Bryan during the meeting. He was entirely focused on what people were
discussing. I was shocked when I heard his different opinions from others.
In the business world, he was indeed the king. His ability to think was different from others. His
thoughts started where other people's ended.
I was lost in his face when I heard my name.
"Miss Sophia?"
"Huh?"
I looked at the man who was sitting a little distant from Bryan.
"Alpha has called you two times. Where are you lost?"
I slowly shifted my attention back to Bryan, and I saw him turning his head toward me.
I gulped and bowed to him. "Sorry, Alpha. I was...." I paused as I had no words.
What would I say? That I lost myself while observing you? No way.
"It looks like Secretary Sophia has a crush on our Alpha." I heard a man saying that.
Others started to chuckle. Bryan's eyes were on me, and he did not break eye contact.
I felt my cheeks getting hot. I averted my eyes from him as I felt embarrassed in front of others.
"Stop it. Focus on your work, not on my secretary." Bryan let out a cold voice.
I was surprised by his tone when he said, 'My secretary'. It felt like he put a little pressure on his
voice when he said that.
Almost immediately, everyone lowered their heads and started to turn the pages of the files in
front of them to avoid his cold gaze.
I was relieved that those people's gazes were diverted from me.
"Thanks," I whispered.
I knew it reached Bryan's ears.
Just as I thought my embarrassment was over for the day, a phone started to ring. The ringtone
echoed loudly throughout the silent meeting room.
I bit my tongue when I realized it was my phone. I saw it was my mother's call. I muted the
ringtone and glanced at Bryan.
He glared at me. I moved my gaze away from him and cursed myself for bringing the phone with
me.
Today was the worst day of my life. Why was fate up to humiliate me?
"Pick up the call," Bryan said to me.
"W-What?"
He did not answer but only stared at me. I understood that whenever he reacted like that, it meant
he would not like to repeat his words.
I received the call while looking away from him.
"Sophia?"
My mom's voice reached my ear as I put the phone close to my ear.
"I'm in the meeting room," I whispered to her as I placed my hand close to my mouth so that
others could not hear me and only my mom could hear me clearly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, my dear. I just wanted to ask if you are coming early today."
"I'll try to come earlier."
"Okay, bye."
My mom was intelligent enough to cut the call without wasting time.
After talking with Mom, when I looked at others, I found them staring at me.
They looked shocked. It was forbidden to receive phone calls in the meeting room. They could
not understand why Alpha permitted me to break the rule.
I twisted my head to peek at Bryan. Nervousness began to spread over me as I assumed he would
yell at me, and that the order to receive the call was a trap to humiliate me.
But nothing happened, as I thought. He was calmly looking at the page that was opened in front of
him, as though analyzing the report.
After a while, he looked at everyone and instructed them.
“Continue.”
