Key: Mine Chapter 58
Kimberly let out an ear piercing scream as her whole body went numb. She couldn’t believe what just happened. It didn’t happen, did it? She mentally asked, as she stared blankly at the spot where Roy and Hugh both were, a while ago. There was nothing there, just a fallen tree.
Roy, her missing piece, her soulmate is gone. Nothing or no one could convince her otherwise, because she felt a sharp pain in her chest when he fell off the cliff. Hugh killed him right before her eyes.
Her knees went weak and she fell to the ground, crying into her hands. ‘This pain is too much' she cried, rubbing her chest. This is far worse than when she lost Ian. This was death itself, she concluded, as she let out another scream, not caring about her surrounding.
Alan, Elijah and some of the other pack members ran to the river below the cliff, after giving orders to the pack doctors and the rest of both pack members, to attend to the wounded werewolves and take the dead ones to the morgue, with hopes of finding Roy’s body, leaving a devastated Kimberly by herself. She stayed in the same spot for God knows how long, crying her eyes out, until there was no more tears left.
'Was this how it felt like to lose a mate?’ Kimberly wondered, still staring blankly at the same spot where it all happened, internally hoping for a miracle.
“Roy wouldn’t like to see you like this” a voice suddenly said, interrupting Kimberly’s sorrowful moment.
She turned to her right, and there stood a now fully clothed Alan.
“I want to die” she said in a low voice, but Alan heard it.
“We both know that isn’t the best choice” he encouraged, making her burst into another round of sobs.
“You have to be strong for the pack” he continued, receiving a disapproving nod from Kimberly.
“They hate me… All of these happened because of me. No one would want me around. I just.. want to join him” she sobbed.
Alan knew she didn’t mean what she said. She was hurt, yes, but she wouldn’t kill herself because, if Roy were to be here, he would disapprove of her decision, and secondly, whatever actions and decisions she would take should be in the interest of her mate and his pack, since he was their alpha and had already marked her as his.
He let out a sigh and wrapped his arms around her trembling body, whispering comforting words to her.
“Kimberly!”
She heard an all too familiar voice call out her name, causing both her and Alan to snap their heads towards the direction of the voice.
There stood her father, looking quite tired and stressed. She could hear the sound of sirens from a distance.
“Dad?!” she exclaimed, surprised to see her dad here.
'How did he find out she was here?’ she wondered, as she tried to pull her weak self up. Alan noticed and quickly helped her up, as her dad walked towards them. He internally thanked the moon goddess that the casualties from the war had already been taken away, so the humans wouldn’t suspect a thing.
Mr. Wright engulfed his daughter in a tight hug, placing kisses on her head as she sobbed into his chest.
