"Then tell me, what do you want to eat, Bennie?" Daryl asked.

"I'll eat whatever you make!" Benjamin answered.

Daryl ruffled his hair gently. She took his hand and they went to the kitchen.

The kitchen was huge. She was about to cook when she heard the engine of a sports car.

Her heart jolted in her chest. She quickly wiped her hands clean and walked out.

Before she could step out, Benjamin ran towards her with his tiny legs and pulled her behind the door. "Mommy, Daddy is back! What should I do? What if he throws me out?"

"That's not possible."

She rubbed his head gently to comfort him as they looked out from their hiding place.

The sudden arrival of Zack surprised the servants in the villa.

A heavy atmosphere covered the place in no time.

He emerged from the darkness and the lights in the room lit up his features. There, he stood majestically with his intimidating aura.

Daryl clenched her fist when she remembered the memory of that night. She inhaled deeply and held her breath.

It was her fault. She shouldn't have involved herself with him in the first place.

The butler walked up to him and took over his suit jacket. "Sir, you're back."

Zack looked around. He noticed that there was some change in the atmosphere at home.

He stopped in his tracks and asked, "Has Bennie come back?"

"Well..."

"Tell the security guard not to let him in," he instructed in his icy voice.

'You brat! How dare you not come home?'

He loosened his necktie as he walked upstairs. Wherever he went, the warm aura seemed to drop.

Upon hearing that, Benjamin stuck his head out and called for him. "Daddy, I'm here..."

Upon hearing that tiny voice, Zack stopped and followed the source of the noise.

He stood condescendingly at the spiral staircase.

He caught a glimpse of two people hiding in the kitchen.

Even though his face darkened, the anger in his heart began to dissipate.

His reprimanding voice and intimidating aura hovered over the place as he stared at Daryl.

"Why are you hiding there? Come out!" Benjamin swallowed the lump in his throat as he walked out nervously. "I know I was wrong, Dad. I'm very sorry."

The kid looked pitiful yet cute at the same time.

Zack looked down at him as he said in a businesslike tone, "Aren't you the one who said that you wanted to leave me? Why did you come back?"

His words flustered Benjamin. He tugged on his father's trousers as he tried once again. "Daddy, don't drive me away. I promise I won't trouble you anymore. I won't try to sabotage your relationships again. If you want to find me a stepmother, then go ahead. I won't object anymore."

Tears burned within the windows of his soul.

Zack shut his lips as he started to feel bad for him. Hesitantly, he put his hand on his son's head. "Really? You're going to obey me from now on? Don't you feel wronged in any way?"

"No." Benjamin shook his head as he sniffed. "Even if my stepmother maltreats me in the future, I won't run away. If I have a brother or a sister, I won't compete against them for your favor."

"Is this some kind of guilt-tripping?" Zack asked when he felt an inexplicable discomfort in his heart.

Zack frowned at his son's retreating figure. Wordlessly, he followed him and entered the kitchen for the first time in his life.

He squinted at the woman's back that was facing him. With his stoic face, he told his son, "Go upstairs and take a shower first."

Benjamin didn't even change his clothes after he came back. This made Zack unhappy.

Benjamin wiped the smile on his face and went upstairs to comply with his father's bidding.

Daryl told herself that she shouldn't be intimidated by this man's aura in any way. However, the atmosphere changed when he entered the premises.

Her breath became ragged for a bit when she inhaled his scent.

She took a deep breath as she tried to calm her racing heart.

However, she wasn't able to loosen her clenched fist.

It was already nine o'clock in the evening.

The soft light above them emphasized her slender body. Her long hair followed her movements gracefully.

Daryl had learned how to cook for Leon. Sadly, he never tried any of her dishes.

She made four dishes, a bowl of soup and porridge.

The aroma filled the air and gave the kitchen a warm atmosphere. "Daryl, don't try to take my son away," Zack warned. Frankly, that was just his way of getting her attention. It was the first time that someone ignored him. Ever since he entered the room, she never acknowledged his presence and that upset him.

She would seduce the old Jackson than spare him a glance. This made him more furious.

He hadn't settled the accounts with her yet!

Daryl paused for a second before she gave a laugh. "Mr. Ji, if you don't want him in the future, I'll gladly take him with me."

Out of anger, she got out those words from her lips.
