Zack began to feed Daryl. As someone who had always been cold and ruthless towards others, he couldn't help but be stiff in what he was doing.

He had never done something such as feeding other people. Not even Benjamin. Zack was worried that he might just crush the bowl in his hand by accident.

Daryl obediently ate what he was giving her. The last thing that she wanted was to offend this man. Out of nervousness and awkwardness, she choked on her food.

"Mommy, drink some water!"

Benjamin was quick on his action and poured warm water into her cup. Daryl was about to reach for it, but Zack beat her to it.

"Open your mouth."

Zack frowned at her when she saw that surprised look on her face. "What are you staring at?"

"Nothing."

Daryl shook her head as she did his bidding. She craned her neck slightly and drank from the cup.

It would be much comfortable if he would let her drink by herself. After all, only one of her arms got hurt.

Unfortunately, Zack didn't seem to notice that. Left with no choice, Daryl accepted his so-called service.

After dinner, she went back to her room to take a shower. She was about to take her clothes off but when she saw her bandage, she had a change of heart.

As if on cue, a soft knock came from the door.

Daryl opened it and caught sight of a maid.

"Mrs. Ji, Mr. Ji asked me to see if you need any help," she said politely.

"Oh, thank you so much. I need to take a shower, but it's a little hard, you see."

Daryl heaved a sigh of relief. The maid came on time and now she could take a bath peacefully.

The maid was not young, but she was efficient at her work. She filled the tub with warm water and helped her take off her clothes.

"Miss Ji, there's a big scar on your shoulder. Was it burned?"

Daryl's body was smooth and fair, but there was an imperfection on it. There was a scar on her left shoulder that ruined her beautiful body.

When the maid pointed that out, a faint smile appeared on Daryl's lips. "Yes. I was a bit careless before."

Thankfully, the maid didn't bother to pry further and continued with lending Daryl a hand.

Throughout the process, Daryl was in a daze.

After her bath, the maid helped her in drying her hair before she left.

Once she was done, Daryl lay on her soft mattress and pulled out her phone. She mindlessly browsed the Internet for some news.

As a precautionary measure, she changed her phone and number so that Candida and Leon wouldn't find her for the time being.

News about them spread throughout the web worldwide. Lu Group's PR team began to take action and was able to stop their stock from dropping. As for Candida, her scandal of buying the Best Actress Award spread among their fandoms. Some people were spreading rumors about her while her fans continued defending her.

Leon and Candida thought that those issues were just a temporary predicament. What they weren't aware of was that Zack was the one behind them.

"Okay."

Daryl patted his head and smiled at him. "Wait here, okay? I'll go get a storybook."

After that, she got out of bed and headed to the shelves to look for a book.

The moment she turned her back on him, he quickly took her phone on the bed. Benjamin unlocked it and saw what she was reading.

Sure enough, Daryl saw those comments! He had been particularly concerned about his mother that he would always read news about her. Benjamin thought that as long as Daryl was in the industry, articles about her would always appear. What he never expected was that someone would dare to slander his mother on the web.

His eyes darkened as he stared at the malicious comments. He wouldn't let go of these people who hurt her.

Daryl returned to the bed with a book in her hand and saw how obedient Benjamin was sitting on her bed.

At that sight, she was quickly overwhelmed with warmth in her heart.

"Let's go, Bennie! Mommy is going to tell you a story."

She took his hand and led him to his room. Daryl settled Benjamin down on the bed and began her storytelling.

Strangely, sleep came fast for Benjamin. Unlike last night when she had to tell him three stories before he fell asleep, she only had to read one for him tonight.

Daryl stared at his cute and tiny frame. He was breathing steadily. A gentle smile appeared on her lips as she bent down and kissed his forehead softly.

Just by Benjamin's presence, the burden in her heart was lifted. She closed the storybook and quietly walked out of the room.

After she left, Benjamin's once closed eyes opened. His face warmed up when he recalled his mother's gentle kiss. He smiled and thought about how caring his mother was towards him.
