“Whoever ticked him off should sort it out themselves. Why should I have to deal with his bad mood?”

The more Selena vented, the more unjust she felt. It was all because she wasn't his type that he used her as a punching bag. Why didn’t he go after Margot instead?

Joy, trying to keep things calm, spoke to her in a soothing voice.

After letting off some steam, Selena felt a bit lighter. She didn’t want to hog all of Joy’s time, so she said, “Joy, I’m feeling better now. The lunch break's almost over. You should grab some food. Talk later.”

Joy ended the call, headed to the elevator, and hit the button for a quick lunch run.

Ding— the doors opened, and there was Lydia inside.

Joy stepped in, and as the elevator doors shut, she glanced over at Lydia. It was clear she'd been crying; her makeup was smudged, and her eyes were puffy, looking rather pitiful.

Her eyes dropped to the thermal lunch box Lydia was clutching tightly. It didn’t take long for her to put two and two together.

Joy smirked, showing no mercy in her words. “I told you before, stick to your lane and focus on your internship. But no, you just love to overestimate themselves and end up embarrassed!”

Lydia, already on edge, couldn’t handle the jab. She snapped, “Joy, who exactly are you talking about?”

Joy turned to face her, giving her a once-over with disdain. “I’m talking about you. You can’t hold a candle to Selena in any way, yet you thought you could win over Mr. Bennett? Hilarious.”

“You…” Lydia was instantly triggered, her eyes wide with anger. “Selena put you up to this, didn’t she?”
