After ending the call, he straightened his clothes and turned to Selena. "Sorry, Selena. Something urgent came up, and I need to step out for a bit. Feel free to try on as many dresses as you like and buy whichever ones catch your eye. Don't worry about the cost—I'll be back soon to join you."

With that, he slipped on his jacket, gave her a reassuring kiss, and hurried off.

He left so quickly that Selena didn't even get a chance to ask if the hospital was calling or if she should go with him.

Sitting up slowly, Selena realized she was completely undressed. Embarrassed, she quickly grabbed a bathrobe and wrapped it tightly around herself. "It's all Everett's fault," she thought with a grin. "The rascal almost led me astray."

She gave her cheeks a light slap to clear her head. With Everett gone, she could focus on trying on wedding dresses without any distractions. Otherwise, she might never get through them all with him around.
