Selena found herself lost in his deep, dark eyes, feeling her heart flutter wildly. A soft blush crept onto her cheeks as she nodded. "I didn't mean anything by it. I just want you to be happy."

The young man offered a slight, almost shy smile, "I am happy, thank you."

"If we ever cross paths again, I'll remember you."

Pushing past her shyness, Selena met his gaze with determination and sincerity, "I'm Selena."

But later, when she became his wife, the warmth in his eyes had turned cold. It was like he'd forgotten her completely. His heart and mind were consumed by Margot.

She had waited and hoped for so long. He had been the hero of her dreams when her heart first began to stir. How could she come to terms with such disappointment?
