Everett lazily lifted his eyelids, giving her the go-ahead to speak.

Selena’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “Did you hear? Joy went on a blind date recently.”

“I didn’t know.” Everett sounded a bit annoyed, thinking she might have something more pressing to discuss, only to find out it's about someone else's business.

Selena paused, then continued, “Her date was the second son of the Sterling family. Have you heard of him? What’s he like? And what about his past relationships?”

Everett scoffed.

He put down his fork, dabbed his lips with a napkin, crossed his arms, and leaned back in his chair.

With a slight smirk, he replied, “Mrs. Bennett, do you really think I’d be thrilled to talk about other men with you?”

Selena was momentarily taken aback, then shot him a look of disbelief. “I’m just looking out for Joy, trying to see what kind of guy she’s getting involved with. Are you seriously jealous?”

She couldn’t help but stand up for Joy. “You’re her godbrother, after all. She’s always had your back. Can’t you show a bit of concern for her?”

Seeing her cheeks puff up in frustration lightened Everett’s mood. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek.

“Alright, alright, whatever you say, Mrs. Bennett. I’ll have Derick look into it and give you a detailed report, okay?”

Selena lifted her chin with a hint of pride. “Now that’s more like it!”

She trusted Derick’s abilities. If anyone could uncover everything about the Sterling family’s second son, it was him!

Joy was her best friend, and she wanted nothing more than for her to marry a great guy and live happily ever after.

Three days later, Derick made a special trip to the villa and respectfully laid out every detail of the Sterling's second son's life to Selena, down to nearly how many moles he had.
