For the first three years after Selena joined the family, there hadn't been a whisper about her. But now, it seemed like life had thrown her one surprise after another. Josh was beside himself with joy, bursting into laughter. Earlier today, he had been overwhelmed with tears thinking about his first grandchild. He never imagined that life would be this generous, gifting him with another precious blessing before he left this world.

He couldn’t help but hold Selena’s hand, showering her with praises, before shooting a stern look at Everett, who was sitting right next to her. He gave him a serious warning, “If you dare mistreat Selena again and something happens to my great-grandchild, I’ll never forgive you!”

Even though the pregnancy was bound to happen, Everett was momentarily caught off guard until Josh’s words brought him back to reality. His gaze softened as it landed on his beautiful wife, an undeniable warmth spreading across his face.

He had planned to have a doctor check on her after seeing her discomfort, never expecting such wonderful news.

Selena seemed just as surprised and bewildered, instinctively turning to face him. Their eyes met, and it was as if the rest of the world faded away, leaving just the two of them in their own little universe.

Joy surged through Everett, and he wrapped his arms around Selena’s waist possessively. Locking eyes with Josh again, he assured him earnestly, “I’d never do that. I’ll cherish her and our child with all my heart. They’re my top priority.”

He was determined not to let anything like what happened to Mateo happen again!

Josh was so delighted that he lost interest in the meal, telling everyone to enjoy themselves. With the butler and Callum’s help, he made his way to the family chapel to share the joyous news with the ancestors and ask for their blessings for a safe and healthy delivery.

Meanwhile, Everett called Alex to make sure the hospital was ready for a thorough check-up, then he and Selena quietly left for the hospital.

With their departure, the remaining guests lost their appetite and started leaving too.

As soon as Kathlen got into her car, her face was twisted with rage. She pulled out her phone from her purse and quickly dialed a number. The instant the call connected, she dropped her usual composed demeanor, launching into a furious tirade.

“Useless! After all the chances I’ve given you, what good have you done? You still haven’t won Everett’s heart!”

Margot was stunned by the scolding, her temper flaring, “Kathlen, what’s that supposed to mean? We’re partners, but that doesn’t mean you can boss me around. If you can’t show some respect, then we’re done talking!”

She truly believed her bond with Everett was deep and meaningful. She saw herself having a real shot at becoming Mrs. Bennett, not just as a side presence but his true partner.

“Hah,” Kathlen chuckled derisively, “A mistress without even a name to call her own, and here I thought you had some substance. Clearly, I was wrong!”

“Margot, let me tell you, Selena’s pregnant again. And you? You’re still dreaming about becoming Mrs. Bennett!”

Margot was left utterly stunned. After a few moments, she shook her head in denial, unable to accept it, “No, that can’t be... How could it be?”
