After a moment, she spoke up, "From what you're saying, Alexa doesn't seem like that kind of woman. Could there be some sort of misunderstanding here?"

If Alexa was really the type to be all sweet and innocent on the outside but scheming on the inside, Blaine, being the cautious guy he was, should've noticed when he first met her. And yet, he fell for her, hook, line, and sinker.

Holt chimed in, "I’m not sure if there's been a mix-up, but she's been adamantly denying everything. She's been telling the big boss over and over that she didn't betray him, didn't swipe any data, and definitely didn't report him. But... actions speak louder than words."

Selena knitted her brows together.

Something about this just didn’t sit right with her. Her gut feeling told her there was more to this story.

"Holt, could you dig into what happened back then a bit more? I want to see if anything was missed. Maybe there’s more to it," she suggested.

If there was a misunderstanding and it could be cleared up, it would be great if Blaine and Alexa could find their way back to each other. After all, living your life entangled in hate isn’t healthy. Such obsession is too bitter and can really tear a person apart.

That afternoon, Selena drove to Crescent Bay to visit her son.

Mateo had been missing his mom like crazy. His tiny arms wrapped around her tightly, not wanting to let go.

Selena missed him too. Except for those early days after he was born when they were forced apart, she and Mateo had been inseparable for years, hardly ever apart for so long.

The familiar scent of baby powder on him made her eyes misty.

Ava, standing nearby, was wiping her tears. If Mr. Bennett was really going to marry Joy, then Mrs. Bennett and Mateo would probably be separated for a long time, and just thinking about it made her heart ache for them.
