"Everett, put me down! Get lost!"

Selena fumed, refusing to go along with his antics. She kicked and struggled, even biting his neck hard.

He grunted in pain but only held her tighter.

His voice was firm and deep, "Selena, with you acting like this, there's no way I'm letting anyone else have you!"

She had managed to stay put for over forty minutes, thanks to the fact that the private dinner guests were all respectable people. They wouldn't dare do anything shady, and most importantly, everyone there recognized her. They knew she was the former Mrs. Bennett.

Even though they were divorced, she was still the mother of the Bennett kids, and he was still her ex-husband. No one would dare cross her. Otherwise, with her looks, she might have already been swept away.

Everett looked at her beautiful face and her curvy figure, her eyes glazed and alluring from the alcohol, and felt his anger flare up even more.

Selena sneered and clawed at his face without holding back. "To me, Everett, you're the most dangerous one! Let me go, you jerk!"

Everett ignored her, tired of the back-and-forth. He carried her out of the hotel, placed her in the passenger seat, and buckled her in.

He quickly got into the driver's seat, hit the gas, and merged into traffic.

Seeing Selena's face scrunched up in discomfort, he subconsciously slowed down, trying to drive more smoothly.

Everett drove back to Lakeside Manor. As soon as the car stopped, Selena shoved the door open, stumbled out, and tried to make her escape.

Seeing this, Everett quickly got out, slammed the door shut, and caught up to her in a few strides. His patience was wearing thin. He hoisted her up and carried her inside.

It was late, the staff were all asleep, and he didn't bother turning on the lights. He carried her from the foyer up the stairs, down the hallway, and into his bedroom, tossing her onto the large bed.
