“Mr. Langstrom, I’m counting on you to expand our business to the market in

the Southeast region.” Mackenzie spoke coldly, demonstrating her efficiency

in delegating duties. As soon as she dismissed the meeting, everybody else

left, whereupon she sat down in her seat in exhaustion. At that moment, Lexi

was the only one who was still keeping her company in the conference room.

“It’s been two weeks, but why hasn’t that moron responded to my message?”

Mackenzie gently rubbed her temples and murmured to herself, although

she sounded like she was asking someone a question.

As someone who knew Mackenzie well, Lexi had been carefully observing her

for the past few days. Until she saw how concerned Mackenzie was about

Emmanuel, she never thought her boss would miss a man so dearly.

Maybe it’s true that the power of love is unimaginable. Lexi nudged her own.

looks like I’m doing the right thing without dating anyone, or I’m going to be

the one suffering.

“Answer me, Lexi.”

When Mackenzie set her piercing gaze upon Lexi, the latter felt shivers

running down her spine and quickly answered, “Ms. Quillen, everyone across

the city knows whom you’re looking for. They’re just not sure if you’re the one

who sent that message. We’ve done everything we could, but Emmanuel is

still nowhere to be found, which can only mean one thing-he is out of

Yeringham.

“Damn it!” Mackenzie clenched her fists. “I’m going to make him pay for this

when I find him!”

Lexi couldn’t help but shudder at the sight of Mackenzie’s intimidating eyes,

thinking Emmanuel would never dare show up again if he saw her menacing

expression. Suddenly, Mackenzie heard a notification alert from her phone

and saw an incoming message. Upon skimming through the text, she was

seen with her mouth slightly wide agape, her face changing. The next

moment, she rose from her seat and walked straight out the door.

“Where are you going, Ms. Quillen?” Lexi asked in a panicky manner, following

closely behind Mackenzie.

“Onza!” Mackenzie gave a terse reply, leaving in a hurry without waiting for

felt as if something was missing from her life. Also, she couldn’t stop thinking

about the last two times Emmanuel came to her rescue in a foolhardy

manner despite the dire situation she was in.

Just when Mackenzie was still absorbed in her thoughts, she began to enter

Onza’s main road when she found herself stuck in the traffic. Then, after she

took a closer look at what was going on ahead of her, her eyes were filled

with indifference.

Several people were standing in a circle with candles around them at the

junction. Then, a man was seen holding a bouquet, getting ready to confess

to a lady. She was the same person whom Emmanuel met during his

eighteenth speed date, Milani. As their romantic interaction drew the

attention of many bystanders, the traffic soon became congested, but the

duo wasn’t concerned by that as they seemed to enjoy the feeling of being in

the spotlight.
