Chapter 442

“Manny, don’t listen to your sister! I’m fine!” Alessandra quickly intervened

before Roselynn could spill the beans. She wanted to prevent Roselynn from

revealing the extent of her injuries.

Emmanuel understood his mother’s selfless nature. She always prioritized

others over herself, and she didn’t want to jeopardize his relationship with his

brother-in-law.

So, she chose to keep the matter hidden. Sure enough, Alessandra spoke

highly of Jaxton, assuring Emmanuel that Jaxton didn’t mean any harm. She

even urged him to persuade his sister to reconcile with Jaxton swiftly.

Alessandra even mentioned that couples often had arguments but

reconciled by the end of the day, and that Roselynn should be a good wife.

Of course, Emmanuel wouldn’t agree to that. He had promised not to let his

sister suffer. However, he also didn’t want to go against his mother. So, he

simply stated that it was Roselynn’s decision to make, and they shouldn’t

pressure her.

After he ended the call, Mackenzie approached him. She had a pristine white

towel draped over her shoulders. As she was drying her damp hair, she

remarked, “Jaxton doesn’t seem like a good man. Tell your sister to leave him

and find someone new! If she’s interested, I can even introduce her to

someone!”

Well, that was quite considerate of Mackenzie. After all, the esteemed CEO of

the Terence Group, known for her icy demeanor, was offering to set up his

sister-a fact that would be hard to believe for those familiar with her

professional persona.

Emmanuel also felt her extraordinary kindness toward his family. However, his

gaze remained fixed on her figure. She sensed his stare, followed his line of

sight, and glanced down. Only then did she realize that her neckline had

come undone, briefly revealing a glimpse of her alluring cleavage in front of

this man.

“What are you looking at? If you keep ogling my chest, I might just gouge your

eyes out!” She pointed her finger at him, issuing a stern threat.

His face immediately turned crimson as he hastily turned away and

explained, “Ms. Quillen, I didn’t mean to look. It’s just that it appeared as

though you were deliberately trying to entice me. Please be more careful

next time, or I might not be able to control myself.”

Her eyes widened in disbelief. What had just happened? How dare he accuse

sleep, but then she came out again, holding a document between her

fingers.

He immediately recognized the document as the divorce agreement he had

signed before. The instant he laid his eyes on it, he started breaking out in

nervous sweat. He even tried to lighten the mood as he teased, “Did you go

to such lengths to drag me back just to understand what the divorce

agreement is about?”

“Call me Ms. Quillen one more time, and I’ll sign a document just like this

again.” She simply wanted to see who was more reluctant to divorce-her or

Emmanuel.

Luckily, although Emmanuel hadn’t fully grasped her temperament, he knew

she was competitive. So, he quickly compromised, saying, “I won’t call you

that again if you don’t like it. There’s no need to threaten me, okay?”

Suddenly, her angry expression was replaced with a smile. “So, you’re afraid

of my threats? It seems like you’re fond of me.
