Chapter 189 

He put down the paper bag and leaned weakly on the bedside as if all the energy in his body had been drained. 

Eugene’s body fell slowly. He covered himself with a quilt and closed his eyes. 

Outside the door, Kamryn couldn’t hear any movement inside the door and felt a little nervous for a moment. She remembered a key in the drawer, so she immediately walked over with the key, opened the door, and walked in. Seeing Eugene lying on the bed with a quilt wrapped around him, she felt worried and walked over 

She sat down on the bed’s edge and gently put her hand on his cheek. She saw a paper bag falling under the bed next to his hand. Kamryn picked it up in confusion and saw that the paper bag was wrinkled, but he couldn’t figure out what had happened. She saw Eugene lying on the bed with his eyes closed. His eyelashes were fluttering slightly, and cold sweat was covering his forehead. 

She wondered whether he was feeling unwell because he was sweating so profusely. She immediately held him in her arms. 

“Eugene, what’s wrong!” 

Eugene closed his eyes and lips tightly and said nothing. 

Kamryn frowned, bowed put her mouth against his ear, and patiently comforted him, “Eugene, are you not feeling well! Tell me, okay?” 

Eugene grined his teeth and remained silent. 

Kamryn somehow felt heartbroken, 

She hugged him helplessly, not knowing what to do. 

Charlie made dinner and walked out with a plate but saw no one in the dining room. He saw that the door to Eugene’s room was open. When he walked in, he saw Kamryn sitting by the window with Eugene in her arms, looking upset. 

“What happened?” 

He walked over and saw Eugene’s eyes closed. He subconsciously reached out his hand to touch his forehead. He felt relaxed when he saw that Eugene wasn’t having a fever. 

Charlie lowered his head and saw the paper bag on the ground. He immediately grabbed the paper bag, saw it was wrinkled, and showed signs of use. His eyebrows suddenly furrowed even more tightly. 

“What does this paper bag mean?” Kamryn asked curiously. 

“He did a self–rescue.” 

“Rescue!” 

Charlie said, “Eugene has breathing problems.” 

“He’s suffering from hyperventilation,” 

Kamryn had never heard of this disease, so she was confused. 

Hyperventilation was a physiological and psychological reaction caused by acute anxiety. During the attack, the heart beat faster with palpitations and sweating. The patient couldn’t feel his breath, so he frequently breathed more quickly, causing carbon dioxide to be continuously excreted, and the concentration would be too low. Eventually, respiratory alkalosis symptoms might occur. 

One could adjust his breathing by covering his mouth with a paper bag. Eugene had learned this from the doctor to help himself at critical 

momenis. 

Therefore, Charlie prepared many paper bags for Eugene in the room. In any emergency, Eugene could use the paper bags to save himself. Hearing this, Kamryn suddenly shivered with lingering fears. 

There was no movement in the room for a long time. Could it be because he was having difficulty breathing! 

What if anything happened to him!

If Eugene hadn’t had time to save himself, something would have gone wrong! 

Kamryn blamed herself when she thought of this. 

Seeing the expression of self–blame on her face. Charlie touched her face gently. “Don’t show such an expression. Are you blaming yourself again?” 

“Eugene fell ill, and it was so dangerous. But I just stood outside the door blankly without any reaction.” 

“That’s because you didn’t know.” Charlie sighed, “I didn’t tell you about his condition.” 

“You should have told me!” 

“I… I didn’t expect it. He just suffered from hyperventilation occasionally, so I didn’t pay special attention to it” 

After a pause, Charlie added, “Eugene’s immunity is too weak. Any disease may occur, and his life may be in danger at any time. But if you are always worried and nervous, it will affect his mood. Usually, I always try to keep myself in a relaxed mood, or he will become nervous and feel a lot of pressure. 

“He needs care…” 

“But he doesn’t need to be overly concerned.
