I had spent so much effort trying to orchestrate a ride in the car, and yet, in the end, my wish was granted so easily. However, obtaining the specific address I needed required a more detailed plan. 

“Ben, can you pull over? I feel sick, and I think I need to vomit,” I said, clutching my stomach and feigning discomfort as we passed a pharmacy. 

“Sure, sure,” Ben replied, immediately glancing at me through the rearview mirror, his face full of 

concern. 

The car slowed to a stop. Ben quickly turned to check on me. “Elaine, are you okay? Should I take you to the hospital?” 

“I think it’s the coffee Ethan made,” I said, using Ethan’s name to amplify Ben’s concern. “It upset my stomach. Could you get me some omeprazole? I might feel better after taking it.” 

Ben nodded, clearly worried. “Are you sure you don’t want to go to the hospital instead?” 

I didn’t respond, but Ben grasped the situation instantly. Over the years, he had learned my standing in the Mercer family. Even though I was no longer with Logan, Ben wouldn’t dare to take me lightly. 

“All right, I’ll get the medicine.” Ben stepped out of the car, but I added quickly, “Could you also grab a bottle of water?” 

“Cold water might make your stomach worse. There’s warm water in the car–I’ll pour you some when I get back,” he said before hurrying toward the pharmacy. 

As soon as Ben crossed the railing in front of the pharmacy, I sprang into action. I leaned over, heart pounding, and opened the navigation route history on the car’s console. 

The tension was unbearable. My hands trembled as I scrolled through the records, constantly glancing outside to make sure Ben wasn’t coming back. I knew I had only a few minutes before he returned. 

I skimmed through the navigation history, but to my dismay, I couldn’t find anything promising–not even routes from the past month. Had I miscalculated? 

Frustration bubbled up inside me, but I refused to give up. I continued searching as Ben walked back across the railing, the medicine in hand. 

Suddenly, I spotted a route marked as private. 

Normal routes wouldn’t be labeled as private unless someone had deliberately hidden them. My instincts told me this was the sanatorium I was looking for. 

However, accessing the private route required a password. 

I bit my lip, realizing the problem. Ben, as the chauffeur, could have set the password–or Ethan might have. 

I reasoned that Ethan was the car’s owner and likely the one responsible for setting the password. Ben was just following instructions. 

Ben was now less than two minutes away. My window of opportunity was rapidly closing. 

I wracked my brain, trying to think of what Ethan’s password might be. I had three chances, but if I got it wrong, the system would lock and alert Ethan.
