I stood frozen for a moment, stunned by his words. Then, I quickly forced a mocking smile. “Mr. Kramer, it’s not funny.” 

“I’m not joking,” Jeremy interrupted, his tone serious. “Only my girlfriend would have the privilege of meeting my dad.” 

His words left me speechless. It was clear he was trying to use this “girlfriend” status to pressure me. My hunch had been correct all along. 

Jeremy continued, his tone calm but firm. “Elaine, you probably don’t know this, but my dad has always been very suspicious.” 

“He trusts no one, especially now with his health not being great and so many people trying to get close to him with ulterior motives. He’s decided not to waste energy on strangers and only meets with family members.” 

Jeremy’s explanation sounded reasonable, but I knew it was just an excuse to manipulate the 

situation. 

“And then there’s me.” Jeremy smiled self–deprecatingly. “I’m genuinely smitten with you. I know I have a reputation as a playboy, and I’ve dated many women, but those were just flings. Not only would I never marry any of them, but my dad wouldn’t approve of them either.” 

He gave a small laugh, as if mocking himself. 

“But you’re different,” he continued. “You seem like the type who would be a devoted wife and mother. That’s why I want to pursue you seriously.” 

Jeremy’s eyes locked onto mine, his expression unusually earnest. 

To be honest, his seriousness caught me off guard. For a moment, I didn’t know how to respond. 

Previously, no one had pursued me. Now, it seemed like I had two suitors at the same time. But I had just confirmed my relationship with Ashton last night. 

Was this sudden attention from others because of Ashton? 

“Mr. Kramer, I appreciate your sincerity, and I’m flattered by your admiration,” I said politely, trying to diffuse the situation. “But I’m sorry, I already have a boyfriend.” 

Jeremy’s smile didn’t falter. “Elaine, your excuse for rejecting me seems a bit… superficial. When I played billiards with Caleb, he said you were single.” 

“That’s right. But I just started dating someone last night,” I replied, my tone calm but firm. 

Jeremy’s smile turned sly. “What a coincidence.” 

I didn’t respond, only smiled politely. 

“How about this?” Jeremy said, his tone light but persistent. “You name your condition. What would it take for you to agree?” 

His offer was bold, in line with his wealth and personality.

Jeremy faltered for a moment, his confident demeanor cracking slightly. Then, he smiled agin “Actually, I admire that you’re not swayed by money,”
