Tessa’s hand trembled as she gripped mine tightly. Her face was flushed with anger as she scolded, “That bastard! I’ll call him right now and ask what exactly he’s trying to do. Didn’t he say there was nothing between him and that Vaughn woman?” 

She finally let go of my hand and reached for her phone. I flexed my fingers, which had gone numb from her grip, and said, “Tessa, I already confronted him at the company. He agreed to break up with me. And… “I paused briefly before continuing, “He even allowed Selene to join the company.” 

No matter how I framed it, my words sounded like complaints. Since it already came across that way, I decided to be completely honest and tell them everything Logan had done. 

“What?” Tessa and Ethan looked utterly stunned. 

Ethan’s face darkened immediately, and Tessa turned to him with a sharp question, “Didn’t you say you had control over everything at the company? How could you not know about this?” 

It was just as I had suspected. Ethan, despite staying at home, was fully aware of the company’s major affairs. However, the hiring or movements of a single individual weren’t something he would monitor closely as chairman. 

Ethan didn’t respond, but the anger in his eyes was evident. Tessa, seeing his expression, urged, “Call Logan back and ask him what’s going on!” 

I quickly stopped her. Letting Logan return would only turn things messier. 

“Tessa, Ethan, if you find this unacceptable, imagine how I feel. He had a public scandal with Selene, and yet, he brought her to the company. He didn’t care about me as his fiancée.” 

“Elaine, we’ll make him get rid of that woman,” Tessa said, grabbing my hand again. 

I looked at her, my tone calm but firm. Tessa, he blocked all contact with Selene in front of me. That was the day before we were set to register our marriage. But it didn’t stop him from secretly accompanying her to a prenatal check–up the very next day.” 

I pressed my lips together as the humiliation washed over me. “So, getting rid of Selene won’t solve the problem. The real issue is that Logan cares about her. For her, he can lie and disregard everything. 

My heart ached as I spoke, the words hitting me as hard as they hit them. Despite being with Logan for ten years, I couldn’t compete with a widow’s allure. 

In the end, I had lost. 

My words left Tessa and Ethan silent. I continued, speaking plainly, “Ethan, Tessa, things between Logan and me have come to this. Even if you force him to stay with me, his heart isn’t with me 

anymore. 

“A loveless marriage will only bring me pain. If you truly care about me, you wouldn’t want me to suffer in a relationship like this, would you?” 

Tessa’s eyes filled with tears. “Elaine…” 

“Maybe Logan is just confused,” she said, almost pleading. “Can’t you give him another chance? Wait a little longer, let him reflect on his actions?” 

“What’s the point of waiting?” Ethan’s voice turned stern.
