Chapter 59
Time to tell Logan what I really thought
“Logan, what you call a small mistake is a deal breaker for me. After all these years, you should know! don’t share,” I said, stepping back to put more space between us.
“The relationship doesn’t have to be some epic romance, but I can’t handle even a hint of my partner flirting with someone else. If I’m with you, I want all of you I turned to see Logan’s reaction
Instead, I caught Ashton’s eye. We were only a few steps apart, and he’d clearly heard everything
Our eyes met for just a second before I looked back at Logan, who was practically rolling his eyes “Elaine, that fairy tale stuff doesn’t exist in the real world. Stop living in a dream.”
He had a point. These days, temptation was everywhere. Everything moved faster–ca relationships.
I gave him a small smile. “If it doesn’t exist, then I’m not playing the game. I won’t settle for less”
My determination left him speechless. “Logan, let this be the last time we hash this out. We’re done let’s both move on. You know how to leave the past behind.”
Logan let out a bitter laugh. “Fine. Let’s move on. Can’t wait to see who you end up with next”
He stormed off like an angry teenager.
Talk about immature. If he’d grown up at all, he wouldn’t keep coming back after we broke up.
Maya returned with the medicine. “Whoa, another fight with Logan? He looked madder than a bear
with a sore head!”
Always with the jokes. I took the medicine, opening it. “Never seen an angry bear. Care to demonstrate?”
“Come on, Elaine.” Maya nudged me. “Was he trying to get back together? Maybe give him another shot? He must still love you, or he wouldn’t-”
“I’ll do it.”
Ashton cut her off, taking the medicine from my hands and expertly opening it with his large fingers
“Ms. Ellison, my markers are dead. Get me a black and red one,” he said while unwrapping the medicine.
“On it!” Maya jumped to help her idol–slash–meal–ticket.
Once she left, he finished opening the medicine but didn’t hand it over. Instead, he tested the spray in the air and looked at me. “Open up.”
“It’s okay, I can manage.” I reached for the bottle, trying to dodge what he clearly had in mind.
He lifted it way above my head – no way I could reach it, even jumping.
I sighed. Chalk up another loss to this guy.
“Can you even see into your own mouth?” he asked.
That stopped me short. He added, “I’m just trying to speed up your recovery so we can stay on schedule. Nothing to be weird about, right, Ms. Hart?”
