Chapter 75 

I saw the anger flashing in Logan’s eyes, followed by his cold, mocking tone “Ma pred potik || wouldn’t fire you?” 

“Then do it!” I challenged, standing my ground 

Logan’s face darkened with fury, but before he could respond, Ashton seches Telke to mow why you want me replaced, Mr. Mercer.” 

Logan didn’t hesitate. “You failed to follow directives and took unauthorised breaks, causing days to the project. That is the reason.” 

“I told you–I already approved it,” 1 interrupted, defending Ashton 

Logan turned his glare on me. “Do you think your approval exempts him from being held accountable? 

The tension in the room was palpable. Mr. Gray quickly stepped forward, trying to defuse the situation “Mr. Mercer, it was indeed inappropriate for Mr. Drake to take unauthorized breaks. It won’t happen again.” 

“Why not? It’s my right to take breaks,” Ashton shot back, clearly unwilling to back com 

I supported him. “Even if he doesn’t take a break, I need rest too. He still wouldnt be able to work 

then.” 

Logan’s expression darkened even further. His gaze dropped to my hand, which was still holding Ashton’s. “Ms. Hart, come with me. I need to talk to you.” 

His tone was sharp and commanding, as if he were ready to tear into me. But I wasn’t afraid. I had plenty to say to him too 

I let go of Ashton’s hand, but before I could step away, Ashton grabbed my hand again. 

Our eyes met, and I saw the same protective look he’d given me back in Amaty when Synthia’s scheme 

caused me to fall. 

But I didn’t need protection now. I withdrew my hand gently and told him, “Mr. Mercer can’t hurt me 

Ashton hesitated but finally let me go. I followed Logan, who was visibly agitated 

Victor hurried after us, but Logan snapped at him after a few steps, “This doesn’t concern you.” 

Victor froze, casting me a cautious glance, and stayed behind. 

Logan stormed ahead, his pace relentless. Not knowing where he was leading me, I called out, “Mr. Mercer, if you have something to say, you can say it now.” 

He didn’t stop, but I did. “Mr. Mercer, say whatever you need to say here. I have work to do, and you’re already wasting my time.” 

Logan finally halted. He turned to face me, glaring coldly. As I approached, he grabbed my arm, spun me around, and pinned me against the wall. 

His icy breath fanned my face, and the features I had admired for ten years loomed uncomfortably close. His nose was almost touching mine. 

“Elaine, you’ve got some nerve trying to threaten me.”

My back throbbed from the impact, but I refused to flinch. This man, impulsive and easily angered, had kept me walking on eggshells for the past decade. But now, his behavior left a bad taste in my mouth. 

I met his gaze fearlessly. “I simply don’t want your impulsiveness to jeopardize the project timeline.” 

Logan didn’t respond immediately. He just stared at me intently. Finally, he asked, “Are you dating that Drake guy for real?” 

“No,” I answered truthfully.
