When Charlotte saw Kayden crying, she felt something tugging at her heartstrings.

Why did Kayden burst into tears so suddenly?

She could never stand the sight of a child crying. Whenever Amber cried at home, she would become softhearted. Now, the same thing was happening with this boy.

Feeling helpless, Charlotte said, "I really have work to do. How about this? I will give you my contact number. You can chat with me when you're free, okay?"

"Really?" Kayden's eyes were still red-rimmed, but he had stopped crying, and surprise shone in them.

That look was almost identical to her daughter's, so Charlotte couldn't refuse.

She nodded. "Of course, it's true. I wouldn't lie to you."

"Great!"

The boy brightened up at once and found his appetite again.

Charlotte laughed at the sudden emotional change.

After lunch, she wrote down her contact number and handed it to him.

"This is my phone number. You can also message me on WhatsApp. Once you get home, be good and never run away again. It is dangerous out there, understand?"

"Got it." He nodded obediently.

Then, Charlotte told the driver, "Shane, please take him home."

"Yes, Ms. Howard."

She watched the car leave, then caught a cab to the medical lab.

Brian and Henry had arrived a little earlier. While they waited, they kept searching for Kayden.

At about two in the afternoon, Arlo called, sounding excited. "Mr. Norman, Kayden is home!"

Brian asked worriedly, "How is he? Is he hurt?"

Arlo answered happily, "No, he's perfectly fine."

That was good news.

Brian finally relaxed and said calmly, "I understand. Keep an eye on him so he doesn't sneak out again."

"Yes, Mr. Norman. We'll guard him this time."

Arlo then hung up.

After putting away the phone, Brian asked Henry, "Has the doctor arrived?"

Henry checked the time. "She should be here soon. If she shows up, our people will bring her right in."
