Everyone said Kayden's mother was unknown. Some even whispered behind his back that he might have been adopted and that he shared no blood ties with his father.

In the past two years, Kayden had occasionally thought about finding his mother. He had once looked into Brian's ex-wife, trying to dig up any trace of her. But there had been nothing—no photo, no clue left behind in the Norman family.

The only thing that remained was a name with a notorious reputation—Charlotte Perry.

When he met the woman known to him as Mandy, he only knew her as the brilliant doctor. He had never imagined that she and Charlotte were the same person.

Learning the truth filled him with excitement. She was the only person who might be his mother. What made it even better was that he genuinely liked her.

Even though he had yet to prove it, the possibility alone filled him with happiness.

On the other end of the line, Nathan caught on right away. "Wait a second. How did you hear the name Charlotte? That name hasn't been mentioned in years."

Kayden simply replied, "It's nothing. I was just curious. Don't tell my dad I asked you about this."

Before Nathan could say another word, Kayden hung up.

He shoved the phone back into his pocket and took a moment to calm himself. If he wanted to be sure, he would need to find a way to confirm whether the beautiful Charlotte was really his mother.

Determined, Kayden took a deep breath and pushed aside his excitement. He sat down quietly and began working on his homework as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, Brian returned home without mentioning anything about his conversation with Charlotte or their shared past.

After dinner later that evening, Charlotte changed into a fresh set of clothes and came over to give Brian his treatment.

Henry watched from the side, feeling uneasy. The needles Mandy used tonight seemed even thicker than usual. It was a little intimidating.

In the days that followed, Charlotte's routine remained the same. She moved back and forth between her home, the research institute, and Brian's residence where she continued his treatment.

A week passed quickly.

Thanks to Charlotte's treatment, the poison in Brian's body had already retreated from his brain and heart, which were the two most critical areas. The progress had been smoother than Charlotte had expected.

Brian was pleased with the results. For the first time, he felt as though he could see faint shapes and shadows. The images were blurry, but it was far better than total darkness. It felt like the beginning of hope.
